Lovely updates thank you both and I agree that Sandos is totally wasted in kennels. I used him to do an induction and it was as if he knew he needed to be on his very best behaviour and so he was.

Sandos is such a great dog. Having a walk and sniff around and some zoomie time in the paddock makes him very happy. I always find him well mannered and slightly reserved. He can be on the strong side now that he's filled out a bit, but I don't remember anytime that he's been unruly when walking. Hopefully someone's got their eye on him. I think he'll be great in a home environment.

Bit late in the day but got Sandos out for his zoomie time. Wish it could've been a bit longer, but he enjoyed himself. I'll make it a long walk later in the week.

I met Sandos for the first time today, there was a little bit of noise at his kennel door but the second I picked his harness up he turned into a wiggle bum, his eagerness to go out made us fast friends! And he was very easy to harness.
We had a peaceful walk around the grounds, he walked well, taking in all the sniffs and smells.
He is a strong boy if he wants to be, but as our walk was quiet, we had a peaceful, gentle time.
We spent a little time in the paddock too.
He did put the brakes on when it was time to go back, so we had a little standoff 😂
But otherwise a lovely boy! I look forward to getting to know him more thumbs.gif

I’ve been meaning to post about Sandos for ages. He’s a stubborn dog, but delightful to walk as long as he’s not startled by unexpected horses and other unwelcome surprises. He likes to follow the routes he’s familiar with and I have found myself in a standoff with him a few times. But he will listed to firm commands.
He tolerates a shower patiently, and though strong he walks at a pleasant amble. He also has a super expressive face.

Sitting for a treat
Sitting for a treat
I couldn’t resist taking Sandos for a paddock and short stroll on Monday when dropping Lenny Lurcher back from foster.
He enjoyed a back rub and some ball chasing (he’s not so good at bringing balls back).

We then headed out for a short walk. It was getting dark but Sandos wanted to do a longer route. Fortunately, sausage was a great persuader.

Sandos is a large, lovable dog. I hope his new home comes soon.

Sandos is definitely one of the perhaps underrated and misunderstood dogs I get to walk. I think this is because of his reserved nature. He’s always such a good boy on his walk, despite being pretty stubborn and insistent on a particular routine and route, I let him go wherever he likes. He likes to sniff and walks at a comfortable pace. He rarely pulls unless he gets a sudden burst of excitement or gets slightly flustered by a potential trigger. He definitely has a cheeky side and will ‘put the brakes on’ if he knows you have treats! He enjoys time in the paddock and loves chasing a ball or zooming around to his own accord. I wouldn’t describe Sandos as affectionate but he loves a bum scratch and will come over to you when he chooses to. I’ve noticed the more I walk him, the more comfortable he gets with me and more frequently he’ll come over to me. Very handsome and gentle boy. So deserves his own, totally wasted in kennels!

I’ve got a soft spot for Sandos, I think it’s his very expressive eyes, so when I saw he hadn’t been out for a walk I couldn’t resist. He was a gent, waiting for me to step over fallen trees and ambling along at a gentle pace.
He has a tendency to stop in the hope of being given a treat to continue on the walk - but after a stand off for about 30 seconds, he realised it wasn’t going to work and set off again. roflmao.gif .

He was slightly perturbed when 2 akitas appeared in front of us, as he’s become a little nervous of some dogs, but a treat and some reassurance and he walked on past them.

He’s a lovely dog, who would make a great companion for someone who can manage a large dog.
