Delphi's Story: Delphi was found abandoned and unclaimed within a Northern council pound. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving her life. Delphi is neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Delphi came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting her new family.
If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.
Delphi's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original referral information: We saved Delphi being put to sleep, she was within minutes of her life.
Delphi came into RescueRemedies 28th October 23

Welcome to RR Delphi xxxx
Re: Delphi Staffie x Shar Pei DofB 11.22 RRemedies Centre
So excited to meet Delphi. She is staffie from the rear and Shar pei in the face. Much smaller than I was anticipating. A true delight.
Delphi is being spayed and vaccinated tomorrow so then she will be ready for visitors!

Little Delphi paid us a visit yesterday, coming straight from the vet, and before heading off into foster. She is a real sweetie. She was feeling a bit dazed and overwhelmed with so much going on but she made some new friends and we are looking forward to updates from her fosterer.

It’s fair to say that Delphi had stolen my heart she is teeny, tiny and will do absolutely amazing in foster

The beautiful & stunning Delphi has been staying with me the last week whilst recovering from her op.
She is recovering well and every day more of her personality is shining through.
Delphi is still quite puppy like in a lot of ways and would benefit from some training but what I've seen is that she is very clever and learns quickly.
She's eager to go for her walks and would initially try and help open the front door (I make sure to keep it locked and gated off, just in case) but has now learned that she needs to sit if she wants me to open it.
She has a tendency to pull when we're out walking but this has eased more and more each day. I think she's just so excited to explore her new surroundings and wants to say hello to everyone and everything she sees (including falling leaves).
To help discourage this, today we've been working on "here" whilst out walking and she's picking it up super fast; realising that she gets a treat when she comes back to me.
During the daytime walks, she is mostly slack leads now but during the evening walks Delphi is on high alert and distracted by all the sounds and smells ... and in particular, the foxes! It is all manageable though as she is not a big dog and I'm sure in time she'll relax more in the dark in the same way she has in the daytime.
I do not have a garden so toilet training hasn't been easy but last night Delphi sat at the top of my stairs (that lead to the front door) to let me know that she needed to go :)
Clever girl
I'm in no doubt that if she were in a home with a garden, she would be 100% clean inside.
Delphi is a little sweetheart and a complete mix of her two breeds. Her Staffy side loves to be close on the sofa; often rolling onto her back and demanding belly rubs. Whilst other times her Sharpei side chooses to relax alone at the opposite end of the sofa. Both sides are adorable and I simply follow her lead.
She's with me for one more week to give her time to fully recover and I'm going to make the most of the Delphi snuggles as I reckon this little heart stealer is going to be snapped up quickly.
