Diesel Staffie x AmBulldog DofB Sep 2021 Horley Foster
Re: Diesel Staffie x AmBulldog DofB Sep 2021 RRemedies Centre
Diesel is back for a weekend sleepover. I haven’t had him over for two weeks so he was really excited. I gave him a shower and he quickly has remembered our routine. He is very cuddly and I have had many face washes. He was a bit naughty on our Saturday walk with a lot of pulling but I know he was really excited which contributed.
Today’s walk was in a high dog area so he met lots of dogs and gave out many kisses to dogs and humans. Surprised he fitted through the car door with the amount of people who said he was gorgeous. He was really good with all the dogs he met (about 20+ dogs he greeted) and he was really gentle with an old dog. Although he did try and hump one of the dogs but listened to me when I told him off. He was very excited at the beginning of the walk and pulled a bit but I pulled the treats out and he walked well next to me.
I forgot to post a couple of weekends ago when he met my friends. He was such a good boy and gave them such a friendly hello. This did mean he was very excited on the walk so pulled a fair bit.

Diesel has been having his weekend sleepovers for the last three weekends since I last posted. We have had a lovely time, lots of muddy walks, snoring naps on the sofa and lots of love received and given.
Some highlights have been taken him to the pet shop. He was really good and excited to get in. His lead took out a shelf of shampoo, he got some treats and strokies from the people that worked there and he managed to dive his head in the treat bucket on the way out. So cheeky and hilarious.
We have had some good walks and I was recommended a head collar to help with the pulling. He has adapted to it really well and it is helping. Whilst on he self regulates himself and stops himself pulling. He can get a bit annoyed with it when he wants to pull to something but it is early days and he is doing well using it.

I felt very privileged to meet the gorgeous Diesel yesterday. He was very welcoming and excited to get going. I would say, for the first part, you might have been confused as to who was taking who for a walk! He was definitely a man on a mission. He did, however, settle into a more leisurely pace and we had a very pleasant time together.
We stopped for a little break for a bit of a fuss (which he enjoyed), some water and a little treat which he sat nicely for. He was very interested in anything equine and was a bit upset when I wouldn't let him chase after a horse which passed us! He forgave me though.
I think Diesel is a very, very nice dog and would make a lovely snuggle buddy.
Here is a photo of him looking pretty gorgeous.

How is Diesel getting along with you in foster? We would welcome an update.

Meant to post a while ago with our adventures over the last month so apologies with the picture spam. This gorgeous hunk of chunk has been really good with everything we have been up to.
He is still good in my flat with no accidents, very cuddly and loves kisses. He is showing a lot of obedience following my instructions like sit, lie down, off and wait which is very promising. Towards the beginning of May we had a lot of chill walks around Horley. He is still really good on the lead and walking well with his Halti collar. We usually use a shorter lead but I have trialled an extendable lead in the woods which was successful. A bit of pulling on the end of the extendable lead but generally a good start. He has met so many people out on walks and around Horley and been so friendly and behaved well. I feel he has gained a bit of a fan club when he is at his toilet spot and with my neighbours.
We spent Eurovision evening at my parents house where Diesel had a good play in the garden and lay down to enjoy the Eurovision. He met my sisters boyfriend and Diesel seemed to have a bit of a crush on him. I did keep him on the lead at my parents mainly because my family dog Toby is a bit unwell so didn’t want them to get each other too excited. Diesel was so good and did give Toby a kiss.
We also visited by Grandad to celebrate his birthday. Diesel was excited to get in the house but chilled out at my feet pretty quickly. He also was so gentle with my Grandad who gave his head a stroke.
We left for a trip to Dartmoor in mid-May which was a week long break in an Airbnb. He was so good during the car ride and slept most of the way or sat and stared out the window. When we arrived he greeted the owner and he had a good sniff of the Airbnb. He was a bit unsettled initially but relaxed into things very quickly. He was very well behaved in the Airbnb and picked up on the rules of not going on the bed quickly. We had such a lovely week away and Diesel was generally really good. He was very excited about the wild horses, sheep and cows. It seemed like he wanted to play with them so pulled strongly to them but we had no problems and it was all manageable. One day we went on a long walk up Yes Tor which Diesel loved and he seemed to like standing on top of rocks at the top looking out. I took him to quite a few gift shops, visitor centres, cafes and many walks on the moor. He was so well behaved, he got a lot of treats in each place and he received a lot of love.
On our way back from Dartmoor we stopped in Bristol to watch my sister run the half marathon. As you can see from the picture Diesel sat down and watched the runners go by. A lot of people shouted that they loved him and I feel like he gave them a good boost. We waited for my sister in quite a busy park and he was so good and just lay there. He was very excited at my sisters flat but they were impressed with how quickly he calmed down.
After the adventure of Dartmoor we have been chilling for the last week and going on some chill walks. My family and friends are impressed with Diesels progress with walking on a loose lead and his behaviour when walking past other dogs, people and children.
Diesel has got such a personality and he is generally so happy to be spending time with people, chilling on the sofa, destroying a toy or going on adventures. He honestly is such a love bug and with someone prepared to continue with his training you will be rewarded with a loveable softie.

Thank you for a fantastic update and all the photos!

Adventures with Diesel. We have had a fab weekend. Went for some nice walks around Horley during the work week. He was excellent again walking through the town centre and around the local park and lake. His loose lead walking is going so well with the Halti collar and it is great to see such an improvement compared to when I first started fostering him. He picks up things and cues very quickly and he will just slot perfectly into any routine.
Saturday we went to my parents again. My family dog recently had an operation so didn’t join us for the whole walk but did towards the end. Diesel was perfect with Toby and was trying to give him kisses before we left. Diesel is well behaved in my parents house but I think initial visits to places he just needs the ground rules set. Although when my dad arrived home Diesel jumped from the floor onto the dining table. He has never done that before and I guess that’s what happens when you have a crush.
My mum and I took Diesel on a two hour walk around Denbies and Ranmore. He was very well behaved. As you can see from the pictures we visited the outdoor cafe and he waited patiently while we got our drinks and then he sat patiently till we finished. He is quite a nosy dog so enjoys sitting there watching people and doing some occasional flirting.
I did trial the extendable lead but he was pulling a bit too much on the end so I switched back to the shorter lead on the Halti collar. Think that was just being in a new place as the Friday night I took Diesel round our usual Outwood on the extendable lead and he was fine. He even showed really good recall on the extendable lead when we came across people, dogs and a horse. He would come back to me when I said ‘come’, sit for the treat until the dog or horse went by. I really only do this because he is a bit excitable to meet new people and dogs that it could be too much for others.
