Billy's Story: Billy was found abandoned and unclaimed within a East Midlands pound Dec 22. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Billy is now neutered, chipped, and is fully vaccinated. Billy came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.
If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.
Billy's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original referral information: 4th August 23: Hi Lynne
I can imagine you are worn out with the constant requests for space. Things are just horrific here and everywhere else. I know you have a girl waiting (Candy) but I have a list of dogs and wondered if you could help with even one. I have Billy, Elsie and Julian Lurchers been here since December 22!!!
I have reached the begging stage now.
I hope you are OK because this must be so stressful for you Mx
Billy came into RescueRemedies on the 10th September 23

Billy is the most confident of the Lurcher, although his chip states Saluki cross he has a lesser percentage of the hesitant, shy Saluki. He is more confident, happy and makes friends with those he is introduced to.
Billy is now neutered and had full check vet over. Easy traveller in dog mobile.

Look at those photos - what a beautiful dog! Billy has also the most beautiful nature - happy, relaxed, friendly. Tricia and I walked Billy with his pen mate, dear little Elsie, and had a lovely walk through the woods on a warm morning. Billy did get a bit excited when he saw a squirrel but soon realised that he was never going to be allowed to chase it. He enjoyed lots of nice treats once back in his room. Lovely walk with a great dog!

Billy is a very friendly engaging character who delights in company and any interaction. He is always smiling if not positively laughing. Enthusiasm is his middle name. He gets along with dog but is best mixing with dogs that adjust to give his exuberance license. Billy loves to run and play and I'm sure he has been around children. A beautiful boy with a beautiful nature. Would love his own garden and companionship to thrive on and dote on.

Tricia and I had another great walk with Billy and his adorable pen mate Elsie.
Billy is great - so friendly, so pleased to see you, such good company on our walks. At one point we met the two lurchers Yogie and Scoobie and also Ethan walking with them and Billy's tail did not stop wagging he was so pleased to see them.
He is such a lovely boy and so so handsome. He enjoys treats and takes them politely. He is not reactive to dogs, people, horses though I suspect he would love to be able to chase a squirrel or two! Good luck Billy - you deserve the best home ever!

Billy is such a happy chappy! He was very welcoming and wanted to give us both kisses. He walked well on the lead and was happy to follow Elsie (with Mon). He was very friendly and really deserves his forever home.

Billy has moved in to the block as we homed his partner Elsie Lurcher. He greets everyone and many people are treasuring his charms. Today as I bought wet washing out to hang up he was delightfully playing with a toy in his kennel.

Billy is really friendly and easy going. He walked very well on the lead and took directions well. He was interested in squirrels, but it was easy to keep him going. He’s really soft and cuddly!

I went on my first walk with Billy today, who was very patient at being initially left behind when I took his kennel mate Faye out first.
Though initially bouncy and excited to great me it was easy to get his harness on and head out.
Billy is a lovely friendly boy and was happy to say hello to me and take to the muddy woods for a walk. He walks beautifully on a lead and enjoyed sniffing about, though never pausing for too long.
Though we saw a couple of other dog walkers at a distance none that crossed our path today. He was not overly excited by any of these encounters and just happily continue on our adventure without any fuss.
A lovely easy walk, thoroughly enjoyed! I caught a quick picture on return; though I missed the magic moment when he sat so appealingly showing how much he deserved a treat.
