Oh how lovely to see her run, to see her understand she has the space to run. God bless her love4.gif

Berry is doing amazing. 2 weeks ago today when I approached her kennel she was curled up in the corner growling at me. She did not want me near.
Today I entered her kennel and got a lovely greeting. She was bouncing with excitement at seeing a friend and the prospect of going out.
She enjoyed time in the paddock, the freedom to roam and time to do as she choses. We then had a lovely walk in the woods.

Berry has excelled herself this week. Diana has been preparing her for a vet visit for vaccination and she was as good as gold learning to tolerate the muzzle. She was not keen getting it on, but she trusted us enough to put it on and she left it alone the whole walk with Diana and I. If that was not impressive enough, with encouragement and trust of Diana and I, she got in the van and settled.
Tuesday we took her to the vets. Clearly this was a scary experience for Berry but again her trust won through and all was done and dusted in no time at all. Back at base, Diana and I then took her for a lovely walk.
Berry is relaxing more and more and enjoying her walks. She is starting to initiate play. She does occasionally grab the leads in an attempt to play but we just stand still for a moment and ignore this, so she knows this is not acceptable, and she soon gets the message, accepts some fuss and moves on calmly.

Nearly 5 weeks and Berry confidence has grown immensely... slowly and surely. Today Dianna and Anne took her to our vets for the 2nd time this time for spay and 2nd Vaccination. She was muzzled to ensure her nerves were contained. She emerged wobbly and is sleeping her GenAn off this evening.

Berry was a little star in the vets last week. She took it all in her stride supported by Diana and I.
We have both been enjoying our walks with Berry, watching her personality emerge and her confidence improve. She sometimes does little delighted puppyish bounces on her walks and like to engage fully with you through play. She takes hold of the leads and holds them or plays gently. She never puts her strength behind the leads and never chews through them. She is very careful and respectful with her play and we just let her get on with it.

I love my walks with Berry. It is so wonderful to watch her playfulness emerge. She thrives on attention and so wants to engage and please. She is as soft as butter and once she decides she is your friend, she trusts and blossoms in your company. Berry makes me smile.

Saw Berry out with one of her walkers yesterday. What an absolutely stunning dog she is, she has come so far in her stay with us, both with regards to her physical and emotional health. We now have a happy, healthy, engaged young lady love4.gif thumbs.gif

Berry likes to take her time on her walks, taking in all the sights, sounds and smells along the way. We amble along together quietly enjoying each other's company.

Cora has walked Berry for a fair few weeks now. Yesterday I got to join for only the second time but Berry remembered me and greeted me happily. She is a sweet soul who loves her walks even in the rain. She is still so young and despite her size. Utterly endearing girl. love4.gif

Would you like to walk our lovely dogs too?

Berry has a way of making you feel so special once she knows and trusts you. As Anne has said, it doesn’t take her long from initially showing her wariness and fear, to greeting you like a long lost friend in her kennel. Having met her only once a week, she remembers her friends and builds her trust and confidence.
She’s a very young girl still, naive to the world, growing her experiences and boundaries from starting out in a very small world. She learns to bond and connect and I feel privileged she’s added Sarah and I to her growing friendship group!
