Marlene's Story: Marlene and her litter were a welfare case. They will be bigger than Staffies. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place. Marlene will be neutered as part of the contract of adoption by receiving family, chipped, and undergoing vaccinations. Marlene came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting her new family.
If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.
Marlene's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.

Marlene is an absolute darling and she is the one pup that caught my eye
When the pups first arrived Marlene stood back while the other pups piled forwards and so I couldn’t resist scooping her up in my arms for cuddles and she absolutely loved It and since then she’s been right at the front demanding cuddles, love this girl and love how confident she has become

Marlene and her sisters Athena and LouLou out in the sunshine today
Re: Marlene Mastiff xAmbull DofB 15.05.23 RRemedies Centre
Tony and I decided to take the sisters out yesterday and help them get used to harnesses and walking on leads. They are incredibly wriggly to get collars and harnesses on as they are still really babies and it was all so very exciting, but I managed to hold onto Marlene and get her collar on, and then adjust her harness (with a bit of help from Tony) as the one I picked up was too small and off we set
Marlene had decided that Tony was simply the best and just wanted to be with him, and as that was making progress a little tricky, we swapped pups
She then had a really good go at walking nicely in the lead, stopping for the occasional commando crawl and belly rub. She is really cute and quite a character. Managed a couple of photos, one where she is staring adoringly up at Tony who is trying to get her to look at me
and one where we actually managed to get eyes front!! She is definitely ready now to be in a home of her own, where she is going to provide fantastic entertainment
so I shall keep my fingers crossed that the right match comes forward for her ASAP.

Marlene is very friendly and, although she is bigger than her sisters, she slightly more shy when out on her walk. She would stop regularly for reassurance but only needed a little encouragement to keep going. We walked up the lane and watched the traffic, Marlene was a little unsure but she laid down to watch whilst enjoying encouraging cuddles

So out of the 3 pups Marlene was the one that I met first, I will never forget entering their kennel and spotting her right at the back, all of the others came forwards and she stayed were she was and so I lifted her up and she snuggled into my neck and that was me gone, she’s been my fav ever since
thankfully she’s grown massively in confidence and is now very much at the front of the kennel waiting for a fuss, in fact along with her sisters she’s become super loving and absolutely adores a cuddle
as soon as you sit down in they all come for a proper fuss.
These 3 pups are just the best, they each have their very own distinctive personalities and will bring a whole lot of fun and joy to some very lucky families
it’s always a bit of a bundle when getting the pups ready for an adventure, but knowing how much they’re going to love it you can’t help but get drawn into the absolute joy of this amazing trio.
For the last few weeks we have been taking the pups out around the grounds and yesterday was the first time I had ventured out with them and I’m just going to say how impressed I was by all of them. They walked beautifully on their leads and the most special part of our walk was when we hit the common and all 3 pups just started sniffing and then down they went on their bellies, just rolled around for a bit relishing the feeling of grass, they were so cute and they get all excited and started a big old bundle
I love spending time with these beautiful girls, they are so blinking happy and actually pretty confident for pups that have grown up in kennels, they are so so ready for their perfect forever homes

We took Marlene and Athena out for a walk yesterday. What sweet little dogs. They walked so well - no issues at all. They are both very sweet and affectionate.
