If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.
Zumma's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.

Zumma is a sweet soul. He enjoyed pottering around the paddock, doing his own thing. He loves to explore and sniff and mark. We then had a walk around the woods. Zumma enjoyed greeting all the staff who were having their lunch and then meeting Emma, who helped with his photoshoot.
Look at that staffie smile.

Zumma has been impressing us all...he is agile and jumped straight into the crate in the dog mobile yesterday and settled on his 30 min. journey to our vets. Greeted everyone and was very obedient stepping on to the scales and walked perkily off with the vet nurse to disappear behind the scenes.
5 hours later after a rest, 3 teeth removed and the others cleaned, and neutered..Zumma was all smiles as he reappeared from behind reception. Ian was asking about him as I returned from placing him in the paddock and off he went with Ian sauntering into the woods.
Today I had the pleasure of walking with Zumma and he enjoyed being around nature and sniffing every blade of grass

I walked Zumma on Thursday afternoon. Careful not to overface him as he had been castrated and had a dental earlier that day, I met him in the paddock and largely let him tell me what he wanted to do. We had a gentle walk around the woods adjacent to the kennels then spent some time in the Poets House. He then wanted to walk around the land around the kennels. He's a happy and friendly senior soul who wasn't bothered by the other dogs. He likes being petted and is quite affectionate. He walks well and is pretty agile. Looks good for his age . I look forward to spending more time with him and hope that a home is found expeditiously for him

All the dogs being in the kennels breaks my heart, but this gorgeous boy tugged on my heart strings today. Not that he wanted or let me feel sad about it - huge smiles and Zumma was very content getting out for his walk. He walks really well, his front legs going slightly faster this his back legs but not letting his age stop him! He’s really so friendly and seems to love people. Couldn’t have been less bothered by passing dogs (lots of eye contact easy peasy). Also likes his food and I saw his cheeky side when I knelt down and immediately his nose was snuffling into my treat pocket (who could resist that face though, of course he got some!)
Re: Zumma Staffie DofB 15.03.12 RRemedies Centre
This little grey face was looking winsomely at me and every time I passed yesterday he hauled himself off his nice cool floor to come and say hello. It was very hot, but how could I resist that inviting? So in I went to meet Zumma, who is quite simply a heart stealer. We went for a lovely gentle walk through the shaded woods, Zumma obviously enjoys his walks and if we get the odd wobble with a back leg, it doesn't slow him down. It would be lovely to see this old boy in a comfy home where he can be cherished as soon as possible, he's keen on a cuddle and likes cheese

Cat test and Car test today...
Cat Test: passed with flying colours.
I then took him to meet the other cats and although he saw them could not get him to pay interest
Car test: Easy peasy
Zumma jumped into the front seat and settled across my lap when I got into the passenger seat! So as I secured him to the seatbelt clip I managed to move him on to his seat. He travelled fine. Got to the supermarket and settled him (as did the seatbelt clip) after trying to follow me out. Windows left 3 inches open and car locked I went into the shop for 15 mins listening as I walked away and listening as I approached the car. Peace. Zumma was sitting in his seat not a murmur. (Very unusual for a Staffie, they are usually chatting away).
Lovely welcome as I got in and off we sped back to kennels. Good boy!

Zumma is the most special boy! I fell in love at first sight because he is:
- super friendly with a huge staffie grin
- so cuddly and affectionate
- a dream to walk - he just gently plods along (do keep an eye on his little back legs though as they are slightly weak), completely unphased by any potential distractions
- great in the car - I popped his seatbelt on and sat in the back with him, where he sprawled himself across my lap for the ride!
- good at meeting other dogs - absolutely zero signs of aggression
- excellent in the house - politely explores, lays down, and frequently checks in for kisses and cuddles.
Here he is making friends ahead of our trip out:
