Ethan's Story: Ethan has retired from Racing. His trainer lost his kennel use and we responded to the desperate plea to help. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Ethan is now neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Ethan is in our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.

If interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Beautiful dog. Walked him today alongside Shelly and Katie. Very alert and interested in things. Extra handsome and very friendly.

Oh my days. What a terrific dog. Friendly, playful, laps up attention and so damn handsome.
(Just realised I said more or less the same last time! It'll be the same next time also)

What a lovely dog! Kiss of love.gif Ethan is super friendly, he walked really well on the lead with no pulling. He also enjoyed stopping for some cuddles every so often. And looked especially handsome in his winter jumper!

Ethan’s a cheeky chap and has a friendly bouncy energy! Once he’s out he’s great on the lead. He was alert to a few small birds on the way but never pulled towards them, just pricked his ears up had a nosey and we moved on. He loves his treats, and getting a good fuss! love4.gif

Ethan's Racing name is "Dance Ethan". Now if you meet Ethan that all makes sense... especially if you are carrying his food to his raised food bowl, oh have he dances.

He loves to engage with you and tonight I stopped and opened my arms and he stood my height and more with his arms around me cuddling and rubbing his muzzle on my cheek.

Ethan is an amazing Character

I love greyhounds, I've never understood why they aren't more popular. Typically they are affectionate couch potatoes who don't need much exercise, who socialize well other dogs and have a nice silky, smooth, easy care coat, admittedly tiny dogs, cats and small furries might pose a problem and they are going to need a coat in winter but apart from that what's not to like.

Ethan is a typical greyhound, though his markings, make him particularly attractive. He greeted me enthusiastically, dancing around the room, until I got the harness and muzzle on, and then we were off. No pulling, no fuss he trotted happily next to me for the whole walk, though he was a little skittish next to traffic and was definitely interested in the squirrels. He loves treats and has bonded quickly with his new kennel mate Shelley, who came on the walk with us (accompanied by Helen). Poor Ethan is such a happy soul that he keeps damaging his tail, he wags too much.

Today I took Ethan to Pets at Home to do a bit of rescue promotion. He behaved perfectly. Firstly he just got into my car and laid straight down ready for the journey, didn't hear a peep all the way there (nor the way back). I'm assuming he has not been in a busy pet shop environment before and we were there for 2 hours. He liked walking about sniffing everything and whenever we were standing about the till area, he was seeking attention from people just wanting his ears scratched and head stroked - well maybe he was hoping for treats but he was loving the ear scratching, I noticed this the other day when he went up to one of the kennel staff and just stood enjoying his head being stroked. Ethan seems a pretty affectionate dog from my experiences of him so far. He likes to push against you for reassurance which he did do whilst we were standing about today but he was not phased by anything other than a couple of reactive dogs that sounded like they were having a fight somewhere in the store and even then he just turned and pushed his head and body towards me for reassurance rather than any negative reaction. There were quite a few dogs coming past us today and Ethan just watched all (big and small) with mild interest and sniffed at a couple. He noticed the rabbits in their enclosures but was happy to turn away and walk on when you called his name and said this way. All in all he was a star ✨.
As I think others have already said in this thread but another great thing about Ethan is his lead walking, calm and loose lead all the way. He is a really lovely dog who will make someone a great companion. If I didn't have a cat, I'd have him!

Ethan is a very friendly boy. He can be bouncy initially, I think this just his excitement before going out for a walk! He walks very well, with slack leads. Occasionally he can become focused on birds at ground level, but will quickly move on once told to. He wears a muzzle because of the breeds high prey drive, and allows me to put it on him with ease. Ethan doesn’t react to traffic, bikes, other dogs or people (we haven’t seen horses whilst out, but I’d assume he would be non-reactive). Sometimes during the walk, Ethan rubs his head against your hand, looking for some affection. He is always a pleasure to walk!
