Shelley's Story: Shelley has retired from Racing. She loses her kennelling this week as the kennels are closing down and she has nowhere to go. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving her life. Shelley is now neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Shelley was in our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick then in foster with another dog whilst awaiting her new family.
If interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.
Shelley's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original referral information: Hi Lynne a trainer is losing his kennels and we are all trying to find places for 20 Greyhounds is there anyway you can help. We are desperate. Joe x

I got to meet the lovely Shelley today just as she was about to be taken for a walk , she was very quiet and sweet and lingered in the walkers area for a bit of fuss and treats , what a graceful and gentle lady !

Shelley is a total sweetheart, very calm energy and seemed to like to snuggle up close when we were in the shepherds hut. Walked really well on the lead (and looked very pretty in her winter knit)

Shelley and I had a lovely wander today. She’s really so sweet and super calm, we had slack leads the whole way.

Shelley and I have enjoyed a couple of walks this week - in the wind, rain, and lots of mud. She is such a lovely soul - gentle, sweet natured, totally lovely. She enjoyed her share of treats and getting out into the big outdoors where she walked quietly and gently by my side whilst her pen mate Ethan was walked by Libby, our new walker. I am looking forwards to walking her again but would much rather see her in the warm, loving home she deserves.

Shelley is an absolute dream to walk. She’s really just the sweetest girl.
Re: Shelley Greyhound DofB 29.06.20 RRemedies Centre
I have been walking Shelley twice a week for the past few weeks now. A fellow walker takes out her kennel mate Ethan and we go together. She is an absolute delight - such a pleasure to walk. She walks close to you as if she feels the need for human contact and never pulls even when she sees a squirrel. Her coat is soft and downy and she loves to have strokes. She really likes treats and she is one dog I feel I can really indulge in that respect as she is so thin. The lucky person who homes Shelley will have a quiet companion who makes few demands but just laps up comfort and love. Hope that home comes soon.

I walked the very beautiful and elegant Shelley last week. She is very gentle and an easy walk, she will press against you for a stroke. We went into the paddock with her kennel mate Ethan to allow them to stretch their long legs and goodness me she is fast! They ended up crashing together and poor Shelley got covered in mud and banged her nose against the paddock fencing, so I made a fuss of her and took her off for a shower and towel down to remove the mud. She was so good She is a sensitive gentle soul and will, I think, adapt to and love a home of her own with her very own humans
