Tyler's Story: Tyler was found abandoned and unclaimed within a North London pound. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Tyler is now neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Tyler is in our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.
If interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.
Tyler's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original referral information: Tyler has run out of time in his council pound. We agreed to save his life.
Tyler will come into RescueRemedies on the 4th February 23

Tyler is a really lovely boy
he’s one of those wow dogs for me
When I went to find Tyler he was snoozing in his bed, but soon perked up when he realised that a walk was on the cards
I received a lovely welcome as soon as I entered his kennel, big smile and waggy tail, there was a little attempt to jump up, but knowing that he’s just had the snip, all 4 paws went straight back down when asked, what a good boy
Heading out Tyler did pull, but I soon realised that he needed to go to the toilet and he did the biggest wee!! We then had a little wander around the grounds to find a spot for his photo shoot and Tyler showed us what a perfect gentleman he is, he posed beautifully for Anne
he seemed mesmerised by Rocky am bull out with his walker, but no sign of anything other than keen interest. Tyler did try to jump up a few more times and I soon realised that this big, soft boy wasn’t being cheeky or naughty, no he just wanted a cuddle and a little bit of reassurance, honestly he was just so sweet and as he was so determined we had a little cuddle, Tyler’s an excellent cuddler, he then jumped back down again when asked, good boy
Photo shoot over Tyler and I enjoyed a mooch, this boy is very much a moocher and walks beautifully on the lead. We wandered up the lane and he really enjoyed sniffing in the longer grass, not phased by cars going past, he did show interest in other dogs and did pull towards them, but moves on easily. Tyler has lovely calm, gentle big dog vibes, he looked up regularly while we were out just checking in and he has the softest, most expressive eyes
Tyler is a biggish dog and he’s an absolute stunner, but certainly not as big as he should be, so of course now he’s here at RR he will start to put on some much needed weight and will fill out, he will enjoy lots of love, care and long walks, I definitely look forward to getting to know this lovely boy

Tyler was neutered at the beginning of the week and started his vaccinations. He was a lovely boy in the vets and won everyone over. Can't fault this boy. Tyler has a gentle demeanour and having now looked his chip up he is older than the pound had guessed. So approaching 5 years old and very settled in his skin.
Our opinion of Am Bully x Mastiff, having helped many, providing they have control over their innate strength they are gentle easy dog. Bulldog experience needed to know how to get the measure of their needs and engage in their day. Temperaments are great. Everyone is enjoying walking out with Tyler.

Tyler is a truly gorgeous boy.
Very gentle and friendly on our first greeting in his kennel. He can be strong on lead, but really was just keen to get out and settled very quickly into a leisurely walk.
Just a big, beautiful boy

I met and walked Tyler for the first time today.
While big, he's not enormous - he was keen to get on when we first left the kennels (that's often the case with many of the dogs) and he was easily manageable.
We did my usual town circuit and he was ever so well behaved. He walked at a nice pace and liked to take in all the various scents. He kept to the pavement and wasn't phased by passing traffic or the noise from the motorway.
He had a "He's lovely!" from a passing lady and we also stopped and "spoke" to year-old Dalmatian for a minute or two. He was also content to wait for a few moments at a time on those occasions when we had to cross the road etc.
Other than that, I can't really add anything that hasn't been said already. In short, he's a smasher!

Re: Tyler Am Bully x Mastiff DofB 03.03.18 Redhill Temp Foster
Tyler has been with me on a 5-day foster since Saturday, so it’s high time I provided some updates on how we’ve been getting on. I made a start on a post yesterday evening but he insisted I stop doing that and return to giving him cuddles on the sofa!
After collecting him from his kennel, we went for a short walk to the end of the lane simply to give him a chance to relax and an opportunity to do any necessaries, which he duly did. I then clipped him in on the back seat of the car, only to find him as good as in the passenger seat by the time I got into my side. After a bit of well-mannered pushing and shoving (from us both) and a shortening of the harness, we headed off. It’s only a 20 minute drive back to mine and while he did spend some of it sitting nicely in the back with his nose at the small window opening, it would be fair to say that for most of it he had his front paws in my centre console, his chest on the arm rest between the front seats and his bum on the very edge of the back seat!
We stopped off at Pets at Home in Redhill on the way so I could stock up on food and (as I usually do) take the opportunity to weigh him; while we wouldn’t sit still on the scales for long enough, we settled on a figure of 32kg. Not as much as I would have imagined for a dog his size; perhaps a few kilos short? That said, he looks perfectly healthy to me.
On arriving home, we headed straight out for a proper walk before coming back and giving him a chance to check out his foster home. That didn’t take long and he was soon on the sofa with me having cuddles and a sleep.

Tyler is so handsome that I've found myself taking lots of photos of him - here are a few more from his first afternoon with me, including some where he isn't asleep!
Just to be clear, Tyler is the good-looking one in the last photo.

Tyler's foster has all-to-quickly come to and end and I returned him to the Rescue at lunchtime. I miss him already.
I will post detailed updates of my time with him, so look out for those shortly. In the meantime, here's my favourite photo from our time together - he's so handsome!
