Bailey moved back into the house last week. She has her large room back; she used to occupy over a year ago. I remember her when she was last there so have a clear understanding how far Bailey has come. They say large dogs are puppies for up to 3 years and Bailey is around 34 Kilograms is a large dog coming into her own as she approaches 3 years in September. Bailey is definitely maturing into adulthood now and has worked a lot of things out. Bailey has had a very tough journey and I am so grateful to her champions within the Rescue who have befriended her, learnt to manage her strength and soften her demeanour as she trusts you and you and you and you ... Welcome Sarah as Bailey's latest conversion! To be friends with Bailey isn't an instant given so you feel really chuffed when her eyes soften and pour their adoration and love, rather than apprehension and slight concern

Bailey's eyes and tail reveal her. Her tail tells you how she has read the situation it can be tucked right under her body with her back fur raised when she is cautious and unsure right through to wagging wildly in anticipation: Every time Stephen drives in you hear Bailey's tail banging against the window; well you did but now Darren has built her a perch so she climbs on to her bed and can see clearly all what is going on and a nap whenever she wishes.

In the morning she gets out into her beloved Paddock early always happy to engage and greet the dog the otherside of the paddock fence. Of an evening similar but she is free range and can wander around just exploring.

Bailey went for a spin in the Ashdown Forest on Saturday. She's always up for exploring and could have easily walked for a few hours; but after finding ourselves pickled by the electric fence (where did that come from?) and getting my feet wet in a bog, I decided to head back to the van.
As it's open country I tried her on the extender. She did enjoy the bigger range with no one around but does need the double leads because of her strength. I did wonder what would happen when we bumped into the cows but she was cool on a short rein. I think they looked a little formidable, so discreet observation was the order.

Bailey. My best girl. What can I say. I’ve fallen in love with this incredible loyal dog. I’ve got to know her over the last few years and after lots of consistent walking and love she is now a much calmer dog who loves nothing more than to go on a long walk or a play in the paddock.
This girl is strong. There is no sugar coating it BUT totally manageable. Once out and about she is sniffing and rolling and enjoying going on adventures, she relaxes and walks lovely but can get excited when she sees those pesky squirrels. Don’t they all though 🙄 so you just need to keep and eye on them. I’ve taken her to the secure fields which she absolutely loves as it gives her the freedom to run and chase balls. This girl is so clever. She loves to work and find stuff and has learnt to drop toys when asked. She would do well in an active home because she is so fit, she goes running with one of the walkers which she loves.
Bailey is good in traffic. Good with most dogs and is muzzle trained.

I walked the gorgeous Bailey again on Monday. What a fun, happy girl. She was delighted to be going for a walk, which was a long one. She behaved well passing other dogs, was fascinated by the cows up against the fence, and quite interested in some sheep. She only pulled when she saw squirrels, and since 2 squirrels were playing just above her, we had some entertainment!!!

Absolutely lovely to see Bailey saying hello to Georgie in the paddock the other day. Bailey is a fabulous girl, so loyal and loving once she gets to know you (and it doesn't take long), Georgie wanted to start walking her and Bailey said yes please, and offered a handshake on it!!! love4.gif

I went and sat with Bailey yesterday, still nervous around me but then I didn't have leads to take her out! She may not know it yet, but we are already friends. What a gorgous dog she is love4.gif
Would you like to walk our lovely dogs too?

Bailey had a sleepover and was impeccably behaved. She is so good around the place and likes to potter in the garden. The fox that lives in the corner of the garden over-excites her, but she comes in when called. Bailey is very responsive when asked to do anything. When walking, Bailey is on a mission and very alert to her surroundings. She is learning to not pull so much and there has been a noticible easing of my elbow! However, if she sees a cat in close proximity, she does need restraining.
Bailey is a lovely, friendly and loyal dog, with a very gentle nature.

Bailey is full of character and friendliness. We had a ball chasing session followed by a cool down sprinkle. Then a walk through the woods and up the road, where she walked on a slack lead.
