Darwin's Story: Darwin is a bouncy puppy who can be destructive when left and is trying to curb his enthusiasm which is overpowering with other dogs. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Darwin will be neutered when mature enough as a contract with his new future home, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Darwin is in boarding kennels near Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.
If interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we are only be able to contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £200. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.
Darwin's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.

Darwin Doberman DofB Sept 21 Gatwick Kenns
Re: Darwin Doberman DofB Sept 21 Gatwick Kenns
Darwin arrived this afternoon in the sunshine. A bouncy pup who due to the pandemic wasnt able to be socialised as puppy and is having to learn as an over enthusiastic boy. Beautiful but can be destructive when left as one expects from this age of puppy. Enjoys stuffed hooves and items that aid his active/ creative mind!!
Re: Darwin Doberman DofB Sept 21 Gatwick Kenns
I had the pleasure of meeting Darwin this morning as he took a stroll with Lynne and then had a play in the paddock. He is transitioning from puppy to adolescent and has energy to burn and he needs guidance to calm down his enthusiasm on greeting people and while walking on the lead. In the paddock, with space to run he was a delight, very kind around people and very keen to learn.

Darwin is a tall, puppyish Doberman. He walks well and at a leisurely pace, though we didn’t meet cars or other dogs. He loves chasing balls in the paddock. His size means that when he jumps up he’s as tall as me. He’s a sweet dog that just needs a loving home that can put in the time and effort to help him develop into adulthood and learn the boundaries.

Darwin was having fun in the paddock with Karen yesterday
Re: Darwin Doberman DofB Sept 21 Gatwick Kenns
Today, after some initial excitement around treats, Darwin settled down for a very relaxed stroll. He walked well with Quinn and was good passing another dog nearby. I also learned that he is good with traffic, as he ignored the vans and cars passing us on the road.

Darwin is a pleasure to walk. He’s a little bouncy and excited when leaving the kennel but soon settles into a gentle walking pace.
Yesterday we walked with Chase the patterdale. He was a bit tentative about getting his feet wet in the stream.

Made a new friend in Darwin yesterday. He is very very handsome, with a lovely coat. He's clearly been well looked after. He had a maturity about him out on our walk, which surprised me given his age and how much he enjoyed playing in the paddock. He's a very gentle stroller, frequently looking back for a little bit of reassurance. We had a very uneventful, lovely sunny walk. I'll look forward to our next!
