Thor's Story: Thor has grown up in kennels and now is 11 months old and ready to start his life. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Thor is neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Thor was in boarding kennels near Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.

If interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £200. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Thor is a total delight. For a young boy he has calm, controlled energy and is super fun and very, very affectionate. Paul and I had a wonderful time getting to know him in the paddock yesterday. Having suitably charmed the both of us, he happily set off on a walk with his new friend, Paul.

The last of the new trio I walked yesterday was Thor.

This boy is stunning - he has a lovely silvery coat, with not a single hair out of place (like he's "just walked out of the salon"!).

After some playtime and his photoshoot with Anne in the paddock we set off on our walk. He was a little hesitant at times for the first part - waiting for me to get alongside him before continuing. I think this was just due to a combination of unfamiliar surroundings and a narrow bridle path (with the odd bramble "hazard"!), so he was encouraged by having me in his peripheral vision.

He found his confidence by the time we had reached the end of the bridlepath though and walked perfectly for the rest of the route, even calmly waiting while we let Tommy and RubyTues pass.

We couldn’t wait to meet Thor today and we were not disappointed!
He is still a young boy and is learning the ways of the world, but so far is doing a fabulous job!
He walks well and was not bothered by passing dogs!

We met Thor yesterday and he's a total cracker. Serious cutie, and seems to be very comfortable around dogs as we strolled through the woods with Lenny Spaniel. It appeared that he had very little experience with water as he put on a hilarious performance at the stream, dipping his toes in and then running away. We also had to lift him over the stile bit of the bridge as he was very unsure, and he was totally comfortable being handled, and thankful for the help. He's a lovely little thing, and handsome indeed!

We walked Thor for the first time today. Wow what a lovely boy! As other walkers have mentioned, he is quite a stunningly handsome dog in person, but don’t judge a book by its cover alone. He’s also a gentle and friendly (albeit fairly big) young dog! He was excited to get out of the kennels and explore, but also patient while getting his leads on, which was great. He enjoyed every minute of the walk and sniffed along happily. He walks really well and is not pully. We saw a few dogs from a distance during the walk and he wasn’t overly bothered by them and was easily distracted to carry on. When faced with the stiles, he decided that going under them was his best option and it was all fine.
When we got to the paddock he enjoyed a good play with tennis balls – he’s great at retrieving balls and bringing them back to you in exchange for cuddles. He was very affectionate, despite never having met us before. He seems like a truly lovely young chap with a really nice temperament.

Thor really is an adorable boy. He is so happy and friendly and is still such a puppy.
He does walk well, but can be strong and pull, particularly when near other dogs. This is only due to excitement, he is good around other dogs but his playful side sometimes takes over.
Bursts of excitement can also happy when he finds a stick, 0002.gif] but they only last a few seconds.
He is also very willing to learn and loves treats! We did a small amount of heel training, which he picked up very quickly (and I’m sure he would perfect very quickly). He also quickly learnt if I corrected him after an excited moment he would get a treat if he came and sat down in front of me thumbs.gif
However, treats are also very exciting so he does sometimes have another burst of excitement 😂
All just the baby in him!! He needs some leadership and training and he’s the perfect pup for someone 😍

Thor was really happy to see us and wanted to get going super fast. So leads on and off we went for a chilled walk in the woods. Thor is such a big puppy! At some point he found a very interesting spot and decided to go for a mega roll. It was a pleasure to see how chuffed he was with himself. 0002.gif]
As you can see in the video, he will let you know when he thinks it’s time for a treat and will sit beautifully for you. However, if you are too slow, he might come to gently persuade you to give him one :)! He’s very gentle and in the paddock he was more interested in having cuddles than in chasing tennis balls… although he does like a good bit of football and he seems to have some skills!

Had the pleasure of walking Thor today, he’s a lovely boy with so much character, had zoomies when he saw how many puddles there were so we ran and played in nearly all of them and then had a paddle down in the stream. He’s is such a gorgeous boy who loves his cuddles and will sit very nicely for a treat or two 🥰

I had an energetic and hugely fun walk with this handsome young lad yesterday. Thor is an absolutely typical young staffie, he is very energetic, very affectionate, very enthusiastic, very friendly, and very funny! Puddles were for racing through (such fun) sticks were for tossing up in the air and occasionally carrying for a short space of time. When his natural exuberance overcame him and he started rushing around in circles the one word "stop" was magic, he stopped, instantly. He likes to keep checking in with you on his walk to make sure you are enjoying it as much as him (or possibly to suggest a treat might be in the offing?) Thor has a fabulous nature, he needs to go to a staffie loving family who understand the breed, it will be a match made in heaven love4.gif
