Current Status: Available
BeauBeau's Story: BeauBeau grew up in a family with older children but they didn't have time for her. BeauBeau was taken in by a friend who has been teaching her to walk on a lead and support her skills. She was generally good around dogs but following a fight with a dog she lost her home and we are trying to rebuild her confidence. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving her life. BeauBeau is now neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. BeauBeau is in boarding kennels near Gatwick whilst awaiting her new family.
If interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays. Beaubeau's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original Referral information: We took BeauBeau in as a emergency as she had had a fight with a family dog having not mixed in the house before and it was assumed they would get on over Christmas.
BeauBeau came into our Rescue as a emergency on Christmas Eve 21.

BeauBeau came in very frightened and stayed in her bed all day yesterday with a low growl with any stranger going in to her kennel. She knew me and I got the reticent look so went in regularly throughout the day and spoke to her and offered her a walk but no thank you.
This morning I noticed she had had the meal left overnight and her "no" wasn't so firm so I pursued my offer slipping a lead on to her harness and had to give her a little encouragement (Pulled her on the lead up and out on to her legs) to rise from her bed and we were off...
This is her first walk which actually developed into half the way around the woods and back.
BeauBeau then joined Nic, Jan, David and Teresa for treats which she was very happy to receive...Turkey in large lumps!

Oh poor lost little mite. What a heartbreaker. Let’s hope that with the love & care of RR she soon feels more settled & secure.

Whilst on site yesterday, Anne asked if I would help with BeauBeau's photoshoot - she was on my walk-wishlist anyway, so we got that done first and then set off.
I let Anne coax BeauBeau out of her kennel as she can apparently be a little reluctant to leave it currently, but with yesterday's miserable weather she at least had good reason this time.
Photoshoot done, we headed off on my Smallfield roadway loop (around 2 miles). BeauBeau is very keen on treats and takes them well but will insist on another, and another. This takes the form of her doing little leaps (by you; not on you) and the odd hand-sniff in case you're holding one back. But she doesn't persist for long before getting back to the task in hand - walking and sniffing.
She walks well and is very manageable. We had no issues with the roads, any of the passing traffic or any dogs. While we did pass a number (often other RR dogs on a similar route), we were sure to pass on the other side of the road each time just to make things easier for everyone. But she didn't pay them any attention and at no time showed any signs of nerves or distress.
She really is a gorgeous young lady and I look forward to walking her again.

What a beautiful girl. BeauBeau was in her bed when I entered her kennel and was warning me she was nervous and unsure, with little growls and lip curls. I couched down by the wall, away from her bed and let her sniff me and threw her some cheese. She gobbled up the cheese quick enough so I threw her some more and slowly skirted around her bed so I could pick up her lead without getting any closer. Once I had the lead in my hand she voluntarily got out of bed and walked to the door of the kennel. She met Paul really well, happy to take treats from him and we were able to clip on longer leads to her harness. BeauBeau visibly relaxed once we headed down the lane and was a good girl, lapping up the attention and treats on offer while I took photos. She is very keen to make friends and happily set off with Paul and Gem for a walk, as detailed by Paul above.

BeauBeau is such a sweet girl. She is worried by the other dogs on leaving her kennel but we minimise the worry by shutting in her neighbours and once she is out she is more relaxed. She just needs to be given support and space around other dogs. Otherwise she is so friendly and loving with people and a delight to walk with.

The beautiful soul called BeauBeau. Had a stroll along the main road and the through the woods. Such a lovely dog. Every now and again she skips and bounces with the joy of being out and about with someone. She can be a little wary in her kennel but still smothers me with kisses and cuddles. I find her a joy to be with and easy to walk.
