Johnny Chi x Yorkie DofB 3.2.21 Staines Foster
Current Status: Available
Johnny's Story: Johnny has grown up in a flat with the only other pet a bird. Johnny is quite full of himself and his owner found he was barky to take work and needed other dogs. Johnny needs attention to his housetraining and this would be easier with open access to a garden. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Johnny is neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Johnny is in foster with 2 other dogs, whilst awaiting his new family.
If interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays. Johnny's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original Referral information: Johnny's owner was finding having a terrier pup a bit of a handful in with her life style and wanted him to have an experienced owner.

Little Johnny has come to stay with us while he waits for his home.
He has calmed down alot since he arrived last Sunday. But he is a lively, inquisitive little boy who has his nose in everything! He loves dogs and has made friends with Biscuit, and they play nicely together. Rudy on the other hand has turned into a grumpy old man and keeps telling Johnny off, but Johnny takes this well and has never gone back at him.
.
Johnny can guard his food or bone, but this has improved over the week and I'm sure with time will improve more.
His housetraining is also coming along, and today we only had one accident .
Johnny is an affectionate little fella who would love to live with one or more dogs who he could play with. He is very terrier in his ways so not for young children.

Johnny can be a little nervous out on his walks, especially when it's dark. So today I took him for a good run around over the Lakes.
He is a funny little fella where animals are concerned, and will tell them off if they dare to appear on the TV But last night he happily sat watching them whilst having cuddles with Charley.
Johnny is very puppy and full of energy and into everything! Yesterday I popped to the toilet and when I returned there was Johnny with my glasses hanging out of his mouth , He was a good boy and did give them back willingly once I offered him a cocktail sausage!
Johnny loves toys! and will happily entertain himself. He especially likes a little game of fetch or tug, and will drop the toy for you to throw again.

Well Johnny is still keeping us on our toes, as he is a little ball of energy!
He is now housetrained (clever boy) and has started to chill our abit more. He is still full on with my dogs and loves it when they do give in and have a play.
He is little nervy out on walks and can take sometime to build up the confidence to say hello to people. Again with dogs he sometimes barks at first but given time he will just want to play with them.
He has started to come for cuddles alot more and actually fell asleep curl up on my lap today . He is a very sweet little boy who will need time to settle and not be rushed. He will also need someone who is willing to continue with his socialisation.
Johnny's zoomies.
And Johnny now chilling with me and Jay

Re: Johnny ChixYorkie DofB 3.2.21 Gatwick Kenns
Chirky little Johnny is in town! Sadly his home didn't work out mainly because the programme and his food the foster had set out for Johnny was changed with resultant behaviours set Johnny back.
Well Johnny is a tiny little chap who is getting used to kennels. All of a tremble this morning, so I picked him up and bought his food with him and we went into the sunshine to find Nic sitting having a rest. Nic soon found little Johnny on his lap and Johnny soon found Nic was a major provider of chicken. After a little walk with Nic
and meeting Spencer Johnny joined tea break and his conclusion...I rather like this place

Well I met and walked this young man today and have the following observations to make. He is very small, he is quite barky/growly when you go in (he definitely doesn't mean it!) which stops as soon as you pick up his lead. He is so very excited to be going out the first few yards of our walk he danced along on his back legs!! Johnny is quite timid and wary at the moment and needed reassurance about walking, but was so very happy to keep going when given it. He didn't mind the mud at all and thought the puddles were great fun I feel he is not very used to walking on a lead as we had little rushes of pure excitement/enjoyment and occasional going around in circles, but he is a very quick learner, persevering and we were soon trotting along beautifully. Johnny sets quite a fast pace and part way through our walk changed from slightly anxious to intrepid explorer. . He is an incredibly cute boy but is definitely not a lap dog, he has lots of energy and loved his long walk, I think he will also love active play. He is of course, just a baby, he took the treat I gave him very gently, I am really looking forward to taking him out again unless some very lucky family get there first and adopt him. He needs some stability in which to learn and gain confidence in people. He wasn't worried by traffic, cyclists or people passing. He did bark at another dog as we overtook them on the lane (small dog syndrome I think as the other dog was quite big )
