Kenzo Belgian Shepherd Malinois DofB 08.07.20 Southwater W Sussex

Tried Kenzo on the waist belt thingy today. It was quite a pleasant experience. I took a towel in to get him out. Once he'd ragged that around for 30 secs he was as good as gold. Kenzo is stressed coming out of kennels. I find him no trouble at all when walking.

Have had some fun walks/trips out with Kenzo again recently. He’s been such a good boy. Aside from one ‘grab’ yesterday getting out of kennels, he’s been a lot less bitey and more relaxed. Good as gold outside of kennels, and he’s even been a good boy and a lot more settled in the car.
Kenzo’s enjoyed another trip to the secure field, and some other new places. He’s also been extremely responsive and less grabby when doing a bit of training. His sit and down stays are coming along nicely, his wait is getting quite good and his recall (in secure areas!) is also good, providing there aren’t too many distractions (mole hills!!). He’s also getting very good at posing for photos! He’s just so loveable and so willing to please. Such a super boy.

Fun time with my best boy today. He was in full on maligator mode whilst in his kennel and getting out, but once he was out he was fine.
He enjoyed his new toy in the car (a fluffy round elephant ) and despite being a fidget, chomping on it kept him occupied in the car.
Went to the tennis courts, where he had a play/training session. We did leg weave, waits and stays, round, heelwork, recall, waiting for a treat, hand touch and a bit of jumping. This pup just thrives on mental stimulation, he really needs it! A man came and said hello to him and gave him a treat and invited him to a dog show being held in July, saying that he’d already won a rosette! He’s a bit stressed around other dogs, particularly when they’re off lead/running or bark at him. Providing distance is kept, he’s happy to disengage with treats or onto a tuggy toy.
Then to the pub so he could have cuddles with all the staff, as usual. He just wants to have cuddles and make friends with everyone.
I really love this boy so much! No denying he can be a handful at times, but he’s a super pup really!

Kenzo enjoyed a trip to the secure field today. He managed to get stuck and panicked getting out the van and grabbed my arm, but once I had a treat and asked him to sit, he calmed down and let me unclip his lead.
He was a very happy boy running round, jumping on to and over everything and doing a bit of scentwork finding hidden treats. Gave him a good brush while we were out too as he’s moulting like crazy at the moment. He enjoys being brushed but finds it hard to stand still! Then he decided the brush made a good toy and ran off with it, though he did drop it when I asked him to.
Just before we were about to leave, he found a broken tennis ball. His dilemma was that he also wanted a drink. So being the goof he is, he dropped the ball in the water. Obviously it sank and he couldn’t work out where it was or how to get it again! He might be smart when it comes to learning things, but he doesn’t have much common sense He did manage to get it out just after I stopped filming, I’m not so mean that I wouldn’t have helped him otherwise!
This pup is just ridiculously handsome and such a poser, so we got a few more photos too!

Kenzo is definitely a firecracker coming out of his kennel, and is not for the faint of heart. 40 yards from the kennels and he's a different dog. I'd imagine within a home environment that this behaviour would diminish. We walked down to village and around the block. I think he likes this route as he tends to stop and sniff a lot and is relaxed enough to present his belly for scratches. Kenzo is interested in other dogs and will pull towards them if they are near enough. He is a lovely dog once he's forgets his kennel stresses.

Took this goofball out on Wednesday and Thursday, and aside from being a velociraptor coming out of kennels, once out he was a very good boy, no biting/grabbing at all.
Wednesday we went for a ride in the car, where he had his elephant toy and enjoyed a nice walk around the field and some training in the tennis courts.
Went to the secure field on Thursday and he had a lovely time running around off lead. He’s getting better getting in the crate in the van as he’s realising it means he’s going somewhere fun!

Kenzo was a happy boy at the field again today! He’s getting good at getting in and out the crate in the van. As always he had a lovely time running around, playing with his puller and doing some jumps and a few tricks!
He finally learnt to jump between the logs, this took him longer to pick up than I care to admit
And had a go going over the jumps again. He’s getting better but have to make sure to reward him often or he gets over aroused and grabby. He’s a lot better than he was, and his ‘wait’ is quite good most of the time too. Though I can’t deny he nearly had my arm at the end of this video!

Had fun with Kenzo the last couple of weeks. Once out of kennels, he’s such a super boy. He’s getting a lot better in the car and van, loves running around the secure field and exploring new places, and is always throwing himself (literally!) into anything I ask him to do. He’s got to the point now where he anticipates what I’m going to ask him to do, he just loves working and loves to please! His confidence is improving too, he even braved a little paddle in the stream last week.
Enjoying a bit of training after a nice run around…
Goofball!
