Had fun with my favourite boy again this afternoon! We started off going to the paddock, where we played fetch. Kenzo likes his toys! While in the paddock we did a few more silly tricks, just to give him a bit of mental stimulation and give him something to think about! Turns out ‘leg weave’ is becoming a favourite!

Started going for a walk up the lane where mr strong then managed to break his second harness! So I put the other lead round his neck (as well as the lead on his collar) just to make sure he wasn’t going anywhere and we went back to kennels for a new harness.

A new harness later, we started going up the lane again. Kenzo went straight to my car so I got the tuggy toy out the boot for him. He absolutely loves this so we had a good game of tug before setting off on a walk again!

I had the pleasure of meeting and walking Kenzo yesterday. I started the introduction with small pieces of cheese, which were most acceptable; however gravy bones were rejected!!!!
Easy to clip the leads on, a clothes grab as we exited the kennel, then off on a long walk. We passed a dog on 2 separate occasions, and Kenzo seemed interested in them, but not aggressive or worried ( probably wanted to play). Kenzo was easy to walk, generally taught leads, but very little pulling. I think he is quite an intelligent dog - seemed very interested in his surroundings.

Kenzo and I had great fun on our walk again today! Once new harness number 3 was on 😂 we headed off for a walk to the village.

As always, Mr K was fantastic with the traffic. We saw trailers, lorries, motorbikes and he wasn’t bothered in the slightest. We even had an electric scooter come past us on the pavement whilst crossing the motorway bridge, but the boy didn’t flinch!

Once in the village, Kenzo was the most relaxed I think he’s ever been walking. He didn’t pull much at all and was very happy sniffing, rolling and exploring the new places. We walked past the school, which had an event on and Kenzo was interested in what was going on. No nerves at all.

We had lots of cuddles on the walk, Kenzo cuddles are just the best!
Interested in other dogs as he’d like to go and sniff, but he does get worried when dogs bark at him. However, he’ll happily sit and wait while other dogs go past barking at him for a nice bit of cheese (it’s his favourite)! He’s also happy to play with his tug when barking dogs pass, which is ideal.

We passed my car on the way back to the kennels, which Kenzo recognised! Of course, we had to get the tuggy out the boot and have a good play! He then decided to jump in the front, where he sat quite happily before standing on the seat and jumping up at me (like he’s not already as tall as me)!

Kenzo is just the best pup ever and we’ve become quite attached to each other, to say the least! Love this fantastic boy ❤️

The pup was a bit hyper today and did a good job of reminding me that I was lucky with his lack of pulling on Friday! We had a good walk through the village again.
We stopped to have cuddles along the road and a lady on the other side of the road started asking me about him and said how gorgeous he is. She then crossed over and Kenzo walked along next to her nicely. He didn’t jump all over her but was interested and not at all bothered by her walking near us and talking to us. He then went over and said hello to a man in hi-vis too.
We saw a cat and some donkeys and although we kept our distance I’m not sure my arm has recovered yet 😂
As usual, when walking past my car Kenzo insisted on jumping in! He then helped himself to the tuggy toy out the boot and we had a good game of tug again.

Kenzo and I went for a ride in the car yesterday and for a walk around the sports club. He was a good boy in the car, getting in and out no problem. Was a bit of a fidget when driving so I wouldn’t want to go too far, but thought a little ride would help him get used to it. He also loved walking somewhere new and was a lot more relaxed. Very focused and attentive to what I asked him to do too.

Had a great time with Mr K again today! He was initially quite grabby in kennels today, but quickly stopped once we were out. I’ve found taking a tuggy with me is great as you can easily redirect him on to it. Also if he starts to get grabby when out. His ‘out’ is coming along nicely when he is playing tug, and will drop the toy for a treat without issue.
Today we did some scenting, and he loved sniffing out the hidden bits of cheese in the field, took him no time at all to work out what he was meant to do!
And lots of cuddles as always!

As always, had great fun with Kenzo again today! We went to the cricket field again, he seems to be starting to squirm a little less in the car, and always likes it when we get to the destination! Was a very good boy walking around. Rolling in the grass, scratching up dirt and getting himself and me covered in mud!

I had some of my doggy jumps in the car, so after our walk we did a little bit of training to help keep him mentally stimulated. Kenzo is a very fast learner! He’s the type of dog that loves having something to do, and thrives on training. He will always jump up for cuddles if he needs a little reassurance.

He grabbed at his leads once while we were out, and offering him a treat and telling him ‘out’ worked no problem. To stop him going back at them again, I scattered some treats on the floor and told him to ‘find it’, by the time he’s found the treats and we’ve continued walking, he’s forgotten about grabbing at the leads!
Also very grabby in kennels today, and no doubt I’ll have a few more bruises! However, he does seem to be settling down in kennels a bit more now. I find him a lot easier to get in and out, as although he can be grabby, we don’t have all the doordashing anymore.

He didn’t actually bite my arm off, just looks like he’s about to!

A couple of videos from yesterday.

This is what I do when Kenzo is grabbing at leads/clothing. Also when we’re playing with the tuggy. He responds well to ‘out’ for a treat, but does often go back to it after! Scattering some treats and telling him to ‘find it’ after ‘out’ works well.

Also wasn’t sure whether to post this one or not, but have decided too as I really want people to see what this pup is like outside of the strong, jumpy, grabby dog he can be in kennels! Which is why I took the video! This was after a nice walk around the fields, lots of sniffing and rolling in the grass, and a little trip in the car to get there. He responds so well to training, and is like a different dog when he’s focused and has something to do! He’d be an amazing working/sports dog, agility, obedience etc, given time and consistency. Even managed a tiny bit of loose lead walking for the first time ever too!

I wanted to mute it but thought I’d keep the sound on so people can see just how responsive he is!

I hope this gives everyone an idea of what a fantastic, responsive dog he is. It’s nothing fancy but maybe a few manners will help him find his perfect home, and help keep him mentally stimulated while he’s waiting for it. He’s a dog that needs lots of physical and mental stimulation and I’m loving spending time with him! No denying he can be grabby, and sometimes it hurts, but that comes with the territory with a maligator! And I’m sure with more stimulation he’ll improve greatly.

Kenzo has so much going for him, he’s so friendly with people, he loves everyone he meets! Great around traffic, interested in other dogs, only reacts if they bark at him, he’s incredibly handsome and such a quick learner! He’s such a brilliant boy, love him to bits!
