I walk Rocco twice a week and he is a great little dog full of fun and inquisitive. His not that photo-genic like some of the other dogs so it is hard to capture how truly gorgeous he actually is with his very shiny black coat. I always get a wonderful welcome when I go to collect him, kennel life makes him slightly stressed so when we leave his kennel he can be a bit grabby with the lead as if to say "Hurry Up" but as soon as we exit the kennel grounds then all that anxiety disappears and he is just happy to walk, explore and sniff his surroundings . He is a very friendly little terrier especially when he knows you and loves a cuddle and strokes.
Rocco having fun in the paddock at the kennels where he can be free to explore and just be himself. Apologies for the end.

There is always time for a cuddle when I am with Rocco

Don't underestimate this wonderful little lad he is very handsome, friendly and would make a great companion. I hope someone sees what I see in him and he gets his forever home soon. He really does deserve it.

The weather was really appalling rain, sleet and thunder but nothing deterred my wonderful little friend Rocco from enjoying his walk despite some of the puddles seeming like a small pond to him. This little boy is friendly, fearless and a real pleasure to walk.

I really hope someone takes a shine to him and adopts, he really is a loving little lad.

He is an amazing little lad - thank you for that nice post and pic.

I love the days when I can take this little dog out. He gives a lovely greeting and is just so cheerful - we need that in the dreadful weather we have been having.
I find him so biddable - he just wants to please. He walks with such enjoyment and I haven't found him to be dog reactive. I don't know if that is just because I have been lucky? Rocco has been in rescue care a while now and I think he is more than ready for his own home. :crossfingers.gif: :crossfingers.gif: :crossfingers.gif:

Rocco loves long walks and is as comfortable walking on country lanes as he is on the side of a busy road. He will pull on the lead from time to time (that little lad is strong!) when he sees dog walkers walking in front of us. Strangely enough, Rocco is not an avid sniffer, he's more visual, what I mean by that is that Rocco stops to watch what people/other animals do. For this reason, he likes going to the local park when there are people about (in the summer that is!). You just need to give him a few seconds to take it all in and after that, he will happily continue walking. Don't get me wrong, Rocco is not a stubborn or nervous dog, he's confident and not in a dominant way. Rocco is easy to walk (if you don't mind him pulling) and responds well to commands like "this way" when you change directions and you want him to follow you (and not the other round like with some other terriers 😁). When back from a walk, he enjoys being fussed over.

Brilliant observations on Rocco in the last post - thank you. love4.gif
I walked this gallant little patterdale yesterday for the first time in a long time and so enjoyed my time spent with him. He of course knows and accepts me as I give him treats and speak to him through his pen door each time I go to the kennels. love4.gif
What strikes me about him is his ability to listen and respond. Rocco likes to please and not just for the treat he will get as his reward. love4.gif
I tend to walk him in the woods using long leads on a belt so the pulling is not too bad. woo.gif]
I shall certainly look forward to my next walk with him. woo.gif]

Today was my first independent walk with Rocco, after an introduction from David last week when I took Rocco’s lead for the second half of the walk.
I was surprised at how much more relaxed Rocco was this time. When we arrived I entered his kennel for the first time and he let me clip his leads on. We walked past the other dogs with no issues. He’s a sweet chap and we had a lovely walk. He is excellent at the instruction ‘wait’, immediately turns around and gains eye contact, we tried this several times mid walk. He was also pretty good at ‘sit’. We walked alongside David and Chanel (as last week) and both dogs appeared relaxed. Rocco seemed very focused when David picked Chanel up. Not tricky focused but interested or maybe a bit jealous, not sure.
Rocco was keen to paddle in most puddles. He’s a very sweet chap and I’m looking forward to getting to know him a bit more. :dog-75.gif:

Since I took Rocco out with David and Chanel, I’ve taken him twice more. Once on my own and the second time with my partner today. Each time he is noticeably more relaxed. Getting out of the kennels is a bit lively and he’s very keen to get going and can pull a little, quite manageable. He is very enthusiastic to get to the footpath which means a bit of a longer walk for him and lots of sniffing opportunities.once he realised he was at the footpath his pace slowed up. We stopped several times in the shade as it was getting quite warm and he was so sweet, he enjoyed a stroke and attention. I think it was Lynda who mentioned that’s he’s not so photogenic but how handsome he is, his fur is so smooth, silky and shiny and he has a gorgeous face. Lovely Rocco love4.gif
