had a nice long walk with barney boy on sunday - he knows me now and getting him out is a lot quicker and i dont even have to delve in my pocket for sausages anymore altho he will remind me on our walk if ime lacking we soon caught up with archie & stan all dogs getting on v well -altho they soon left us well behind as barney is a serial sniffer and loves to plod along at HIS own pace and arrive when he wants to and after the walk he decided david should be good for a few more treats

It was fantastic to see Barney again. He welcomed me into his kennel like a long lost friend and couldn’t wait to get going – he wasn’t even interested in my treats, he just wanted cuddles.
When he saw Chris by the entrance, he literally launched himself at him with joy for a mega cuddle session!
No plodding on the walk, he was on fire. So great to see him this happy. He looks super healthy. He has put on a bit of winter padding and muscle, which means one or two extra healthy rolls. He looks in fine health with lovely skin and fur. I think being able to interact with a lot of people and dogs is helping become well socialised too. He didn’t bat an eye lid at passing dogs. He’s a wonderful dog and very intelligent, regularly checking on his people and alert to directions. He seems to be maturing and getting more relaxed and easy-going and a tad less stoic . Brilliant to see him coming along so well.

We walked Barney again today. We first saw him out with Helen for a break and he was very excited to see us. He was doing his lovable goofball routine and jumping up and cuddling which was magic. What a character!
We then took him for an energetic walk which was a lot of fun for all. He’s coming along so well and we can’t wait to see him go to the right home.

Barney was our first walk of the day. He gave us a super welcome in his kennel and was very keen to get going. We stopped for cuddles a few times in the woods. So great to see that this small but mighty pooch is doing so well.

Nick introduced me to Barney a couple of weeks ago now so we've had two walks together. He was happy enough for me to pop his leads on in his kennel, looking up at me expectantly for some treats whilst I did with his lovely little face We walked with another few dogs and he was happy to plod along, he switches between the upfront of the group walking at a good pace until he catches a smell he fancies, and then we have a few minutes of sniffing letting the others overtake. He does like a good roll in the grass and will roll over unexpectedly when he gets a good spot, very cute .

As usual, Barney was super happy to see us and was eager to get going. In the woods, he walked nicely on the lead and stopped a few times for sniffs and cuddles. He even dipped his paws in the stream! He might seem aloof and suspicious at first, but once he gets to know you, he can be very very affectionate, as you can see in the video.
He just needs time to get to know you and understanding of his needs for space and interaction on his own terms.

I love my walks with Barney. He is always delighted to see you and such an interesting, fun, undemanding, sweet soul.

Barney took us for a lovely walk in the woods this morning. He literally knew exactly where he wanted to go and after a quick cuddle off we went exploring. He really loves rolling in the grass when he finds a tasty spot. He also spotted Helen towards the end of our walk who he greeted with extreme joy for a cuddle and a treat too. Lovely to see him as always.

I've had the absolute privilege of sharing my home with this gorgeous boy for the last few weeks.
I've been so busy with work lately that I've not had the chance to update here until now so apologies that there will now be a number of updates in quick succession.
So here goes... The Adventures of Barney ....
Adventure #1: Beach Day
When I collected Barney from the shelter on a sunny Sunday morning, I wasn't sure how he would be with travelling but he settled quickly so I decided to keep on going and head down to the beach and hang out there for the day.
We walked along Ferring seafront, paddled in the sea, grabbed a sausage from the Bluebird Cafe and chilled on the beach for a while.
Barney seemed to enjoy himself as much as I did and wasn't at all phased by the many dogs (both on and off lead). He was a little shy whilst waiting in the cafe queue but was very happy with his treat and sat close to me on the beach whilst doing a bit of people watching.
When we got home, I had set up a soft crate with blankets and a bed in a quiet place thinking that Barney might like a safe spot to relax in. After a good sniff around, he sat on the floor in front of my sofa, flashing his big beautiful eyes so I invited him up .... and that's where he's been ever since!
When it came to bedtime I had put another bed for him next to mine .... another flash of those big browns ... up he popped onto my bed ... and that's where he's been ever since!
Barney settled in very quickly and I'm in no doubt that this is thanks to the love and patience given to him by Mon & Chris during his two previous foster breaks with them.
