I jumped at the chance to walk with Simon yesterday and get to know him a little better. Anna, who he loves, kindly got him out for me and Simon was fine with me taking the leads. He was very responsive and very relaxed on his walk. I only needed to use a soft voice or the slightest of touch on the lead to show him which way we were going. Simon loved the opportunity to sniff and explore around the woods. He checked out all the places the other dogs had been and was particularly interested in the patch of long grass where Jupiter had been lying on my previous walk.
Simon was spooked by a couple of things while we were out. Walking towards the back of the poet's hut, he suddenly looked up, stopped, growled at the hut and then turned tail and headed away from it. He was equally unsure about an armchair outside one of the kennels. He gave that a growl and a wide birth. Bless him, I can only guess his world has been quite restricted and a lot of things are new to him.
Simon does not pull on the lead and is a very calm, easy walking companion. No problem taking him back to his kennel, detaching the leads and accepting a quick fuss before he retreated inside to have a long cool drink. thumbs.gif love4.gif

Anne introduced me to Simon today, what a dog, he’s lovely love4.gif

We took him to the paddock first - we left a lead on just incase he decided chase was the best game ever ! - well Simons face was a picture :D biggest grin and happy running and rolling :D

Simon was rather enjoying himself and I think it was good we left a lead on as I do think without it he would have just made us chase him !! But actually he was relatively easy when Anne showed him a tennis ball and picked up his lead :D

Remember the game ‘Simon says’ ? (Or am I showing my age 0002.gif] ??!)

Here Simon says …
… let’s roll roll roll woo.gif]

After the paddock Simon and I went for a nice relaxed walk - look at him, he is rather handsome isn’t he, and those eyes are full of sparkle xxx

Mark and I walked Simon for the first time yesterday. What a gorgeous boy he is so very handsome and such lovely friendly boy. We met young children on bikes and other dogs and Simon politely waited while they passed. He really does love a good roll in the grass !! Looking forward to getting to know this boy who has already stole the hearts of us volunteers. Kiss of love.gif

Simon is indeed a very lovely boy and very handsome. I am delighted to be out and about with him. he is such a happy boy out on his walks. I do have to watch him though- cheeky boy loves a roll in something smelly and I had to shower him after his walk on Monday, which he was not to keen about. I think I actually got wetter than he did in the shower! 0002.gif]

Simon is a very steady boy. He now gives me very happy cuddles when I enter his kennel and he LOVES his walks. Simon takes direction easily, being very tuned in to his walker and just happy and grateful to be out and about with someone. Yesterday we walked with Jude and Cocoa. I think Simon really enjoyed the company of another dog, he was really interested in Cocoa but was relaxed and polite with her.
It is a true joy being with Simon, letting him take his time and watching him enjoy all the smells along his walk.

Simon was so good yesterday going to our vets and receiving his injection. He gayly went off with the vet staff and emerged 5 hours later neutered and vaccinated. He had a full MOT and is deemed in good health.

Simon took the events as they came and was soon catching up on food and sleep.

Working in the kennels after years of volunteering has given my a whole new insight to dogs that I know and new dogs coming in. Simon is such a lovely boy. He was so nervous in his first few days but has blossomed into the fabulous boy he obviously is! He is such a sweet boy who is such a pleasure to know. Yes I have a big crush on this boy! love4.gif

Simon is friendly with people, affectionate, fun and engaging in play, handsome, not bothered by other dogs, and walks really well and very calmly on the lead. He is an all round top boy.
