Bleu's Story: Bleu's original home was in with 2 other dogs and toddlers. They found they didn't have time for him and so the breeder recommended him for another family who had a Bulldog puppy and 2 children 5 and 10. Bleu proved too much for the puppy and because he hadn't been walked as can rag on his lead. He was then kept separated and his energy levels went very high. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Bleu is now neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Bleu was in boarding kennels near Gatwick now in his a foster home as a single pet whilst awaiting his new family.

If interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and sadly due to unprecedented interest, we will only be able to contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £175. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Bleu's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original Referral information: Emergency call asking us to help Bleu as his energy was escalating and he was catching clothing and having to be separated off from the family.

Bleu came into our Rescue on the 24th February 2021

It was lovely to meet Bleu yesterday :D

Yes he was anxious but also delighted to meet me and head out on a walk in the sunshine. Leads on after a little try to play with them in his kennel but treats won the day so on they were clipped :D
Out and about Bleu was interested in everything, quite a nosey boy I think, everything was his business !!! A few moments of lead ragging but keeping moving helped, it was mostly when we stopped but they were over quickly and I never feared he’d get close to my hands, he was careful not to :D
As the walk went on he calmed and we enjoyed the sunshine and Bleu enjoyed posing for some pictures with Anne :D

Look forward to another walk Bleu xxx

Emma and me walked Bleu today. He was very friendly when we entered the kennel but did get quite excited about the seeing the leads. After a little grabbing we set off and had a few attempts at tug of war but fairly soon in to the walk he forgot about that game and walked beautifully.
Bleu is quite unique looking with his enormous ears and is a lovely boy love4.gif

When I passed Blues' kennel today he was so adorable wagging his tail, ears up, that I just had to take him on a walk.
As in the comments above he got super excited when I entered and clipped on the leads, but after this, the only thing he was interested in was explore, explore, explore... So that's what we did.... Such a sweet boy :dog_running-186.gif:

I have walked with Bleu twice this week. Yes, his focus is instantly on the leads the minute you rock up outside his kennel but while he was messing about with one end of the leads, the other end was quickly clipped on, I picked then up and we were outside the kennel quick smart. Once outside Bleu forgets about the leads and his focus is his surroundings. His senses are on high alert once out, he does not miss a thing. Bleu walks at a fast pace, so I slowed down when I could and this did help him slow as well. He stops to sniff, but his body and mind is still alert to anything that moves around him. He is nervous and a little skittish with traffic so today we walked along the paths and through the woods which was a better, more interesting environment for him. I felt as we walked he started to relax a little and despite his attention being on his environment, he was responsive to me, whether that was through the leads directing him along a particular path, or asking him to come with me and follow, or a couple of times when I had to ask him to 'leave' whatever exciting thing he had found and picked up.
Bleu is a little sweetie but he carries in his body a lot of tension and nerves. We will work towards helping him feel more relaxed, safe and loved.

Lovely walk today with Bleu. positivo1.gif It took me a few minutes to get the leads attached, but I noticed at one point he had enough of playing with them and stood at the door waiting to get out and explore.
We passed lots of people, kids, bikes and dogs. Bleu was very interested in all, but never made any attempts to get close, he was quite happy to see from a distance. We started off at a swift pace but later settled for a more leisurely walk. Never during our time out did he try to play with the leads, there were just so many other, better things to see and smell Kiss of love.gif

Bleu is just fine. Settling in well. Eating well (tails wet and dry).

No real issues on walks with other animals. Other than the excitement when I put my shoes on and he knows we are going. Gets very excited with anything we meet outside that is little with fur or feathers - but seems relatively uninterested in larger dogs and the foxes he’s met so far.

Only real oddity is that he refuses to go to the loo whilst out on a walk. Been contacted by former owners and apparently he’s always been too posh to poo in public it seems!
