Rockstar Rocky!!!! We decided to attempt a walk without the paddock today…..
and after only a 5 minute standoff (and convincing Rocky it was HIS decision to go for the walk..) off we went.
We ended up doing a 45 minute loop!!!! Rocky behaved beautifully and didn’t show any interest is in any of the puddles we passed.

Emma introduced me to Rocky yesterday and he was quite content to complete a walk down to and across the common before heading back up the bridle path.

Such a lovely boy that I've only ever said hello and given treats to before now - I've been missing out!

Paul I'm so glad you have become a Rocky fan and walker. I walked him on Monday and again he did the long route and visited the river on the way back. I videoed him in the river but can only post a photo.

It was raining hard when I got Rocky out for his walk on Monday but fortunately he loves water. We went up the kennels road which had big puddles and Rocky loved splashing through them. In one puddle I splashed along side him but got a Rocky look saying it was his puddle. He was keen to walk so we went into Smallfield and back. He's beginning to like his longer walks and exploring. He's such a lovely dog and I look forward each week to my time with him.

Rocky was keen for his walk on Monday and set off for his tour of Smallfield. He is such an easy dog to walk as he doesn't react to anything. He's really beginning to enjoy his longer walks now, looking around and peering into all the gardens he passes. I checked the distance we walked and it was 2.5 miles. Back in his kennel I got a lovely gentle face wash from him as I bent down to remove his harness. He has become a great dog but you have to respect his no back stroking rule although we are slowly working on that. I love being with him each week.

Forgot to say that Rocky is learning to walk to heel. He knows sit and we are working on paw.

I walked Rocky for a second time a couple of weeks ago now and while we initially struggled to leave the grounds he did ultimately agree to head towards the adjacent water works site, from where we managed to completed a medium-length loop around the common. Good lad!

I also walked him again yesterday. He is a dream to get ready and out - ever so well behaved. He welcomed me into his run and stood perfectly still while I fitted his harness. As before, we started with a bit of random criss-crossing of the grounds but I was just happy that he was keen to be walking. After a thorough inspection of the woodland paddock and a couple of minutes watching Bruce prance around in the main one, we found ourselves at the main entrance.

Without any hesitation or prompting, Rocky then started heading up the lane. He was walking so well that for a moment I thought he was up for a "proper" walk (which we know he can do!) but after a sniff-stop halfway up, he ended up facing the way we had come and that's where he headed next, despite my best efforts!

Rocky really is a lovely boy and I am enjoying getting to know him more and more.

Walked my favourite Rocky on Monday. I got the usual greeting of Kisses before putting his harness on. He must be the easiest dog to harness as he is always keen to get out for a walk now he is confident enough to leave the kennel grounds. He has come such a long way in the last few months and is starting to show his affectionate side. He gives me lots of kisses and when during our walk I had to re tye my boot lace he smothered me in kisses as I bent down. He's also getting better at having his back stroked. He's a lovely dog to walk as he just walks along having a sniff looking back to check you are still there and to get a treat.

I have had to hand over walking Rocky to Nicky for a few weeks. He behaved like a perfect gentleman and was happy to meet and walk with her. We did his usual around Smallfield route and then went back to one of the paddocks for a game with his tennis ball. He loves to chase and catch them until he is tired then lay down and chew them. We put him back in his kennel and I got the usual kiss goodbye. Love that boy.

I continue to enjoy regular walks with the Rock star who has come such a long since arriving at the RR. He is now happy to have his harness put on and loves a fuss as long as you stick to head and neck and he gives the best welcome kisses to his walker.

Here is a little video from Ian of Rocky stepping out with Nicky for his village survey on Monday.
