Lovely sunny walk with Rocky on Monday. He was keen to get out and into the mud hole in the paddock. After he had covered himself and me in mud he played fetch the ball. We then walked to the river where he had a good splash about and came out quite clean. We carried on past Keepers Cottage and he was clean and dry when we got back to his kennel. He's turned into such a good dog and I look forward to Mondays and Rocky's kisses.

Rocky’s friend list is ever increasing, and now he enjoys a short restful Sunday outing after his busy week! Sunday outings have mainly been around the kennel grounds & paddocks.
However today Rocky was keen to venture further afield, and we joined Dylly & Sasha for a social walk. As always, Rocky was beautifully behaved, walking with a slack lead and enjoying a sniff along the way.

I took Rocky out on the charity walk on Sunday. He enjoyed a good splash through the many large puddles and behaved perfectly with all the other dogs and people. Now he has more walkers he's becoming a lovely dog.

I took this gorgeous specimen out for the first time today.
Like all the walkers, I've got to meet Rocky loads, as he pops up at his window next to the walkers' area to give a little grunt to greet you and check out the possibility of a treat. I've wanted to be introduced to him properly for a while as he seemed such a loveable, funny character... turns out I was right!
Rocky rushed out of his bedroom to greet me on my approach. He was super easy to dress for his walk, I gave him a little pat on the head, and off we went, without any fuss.
Rocky was reluctant to leave the grounds: possibly because he thought I may be a bit dodgy and definitely because he wanted to be taken to the paddock. Alas, this was not possible today because Rocky has a mud fetish and the paddock was rather muddy. In the end, we compromised on a few circuits of the kennel grounds.
I find Rocky a pretty easy walk and a delightful companion. I'm looking forward to our next jaunt together.

Rockstar…
I’ve been walking Rocky for the past couple of months after asking Ian, his loyal main walker for an intro! This cheeky chappy always brings a smile to my face. He’s a dog who knows what he wants but is so placid in the interim and will wait patiently for his turn of attention. Rocky is more excited about the paddock these days then a walk, mainly because he’s on the search for mud, but he will walk so nicely when he does go out, he’s totally unfazed by anything when walking, he’s not reactive to dogs or people when they walk by. He can be stubborn when he doesn’t want to go a certain way but I’m sure he’s done all the walks around the kennel given his long time spent there. Rocky has really warmed up to me, I went into his bedroom a few weeks ago and he laid in his bed and gave me his belly to rub and enjoyed receiving some affection. I’ve got a real soft spot for this old boy and really want him to find a home to live out his senior years. He needs someone who’s just willing to let him be and allow them to warm up to him in his own time. He’s got a lot of character and I’m sure a lot of love to give to the right person.

Last Monday I started Rockys getting into the back of my car lessons. He went up the ramp with a bit of help from me on his harness, stayed in there for a little while before coming back out for his walk. Rocky and I will have another go tomorrow as he would love going to a large secure field for a good run around and ball game. He's come so far this year and is becoming an affectionate boy helped by his new fan base of walkers. He now loves a bit of a stroke and giving you a face wash .

Last Monday was Rocky's third go at car training. I put the rear seat backs down so that it was less enclosed. He needed a help up the ramp with his harness and once in I sat with him and gave him a cuddle and a few treats. He is getting better each time so hopefully we will get there. He is such a great dog and a pleasure to walk. He is getting quite affectionate now and when I get him out of his kennel I kneel down for a hug and kisses and even a bit of back stroking. Love this boy.

I took gorgeous Rocky out for another walk yesterday.
He gives me a little lick when I say 'hello' and put his harness on (so cute!). He is so easy to harness and get out and about. Quiet and patient and heads out with ease. Last time we got as far as the lane but this time he was having none of it. He was desperate to go to one of the paddocks (to cover himself in mud, probably) and looked at me with the most adorably sad puppy eyes when I told him it couldn't be. I felt like a horrible person for not letting him.
We ended up walking round and round (and round) the grounds instead. We encountered an awful lot of mud on our way round anyway but Rocky just carried on walking and actually did his best to skirt around the worst bits.
I'm really glad I met Rocky. I think he's a total darling.

Monday was Rockys 4th go at getting into the back of my car. He went up the ramp without me having to pull him this time and stayed in for a cuddle and some treats. I am amazed how quickly he is taking to it and next Monday I will try closing the door. If he is OK with that we might try a short drive. It would be so good for him to be able to go to a large secure field where he could have a good run around and play ball.
