If interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and sadly due to unprecedented interest, we will only be able to contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original Referral information: Hi Dianna, I hope you don’t mind me emailing, I was wondering if you would be able to help with a young Patterdale boy we have here with us.
Stan is a 2 ½ year old Patterdale that was signed over to us due to a relationship breakdown. He lived his whole life in a flat where he wasn’t walked or socialised with people or the outside world.
He has bonded fantastically with his main handler but fearful of new people and will not tolerate them handling him other than walks. Chris his main carer can do everything with him, he is muzzle trained for the vet as he is frightened of any kind of over-handling. He has never bitten whilst here but does give good warning and gently mouths your hand if uncomfortable.
Sadly we are struggling with Stan here now as he will not tolerate any new people interacting with him He is okay with dogs with careful introduction, his previous owner said he is house trained and good with cats. He is a really sweet boy once there is a relationship there but sadly we do not have the customer base to find Stan the right Terrier knowledgeable home.
I was wondering if you would be able to help with Stan as he desperately needs a Terrier guru , or if you know anyone who could help us at all. I’ve attached a couple of photos of Stan for reference.
