Hello everyone! Just wanted to let you all know that Bobby and Shelley are settling in very well. They truly are very special and are wonderful together. We have been amazed at the progress they have both made, particularly over the last couple of days! Bobby has continued to be protective of little Shelley, but she is becoming more and more independent and curious. In fact, she was the first to take a treat from our hands this morning! Bobby loves to initiate play with Shelley, and both are getting more comfortable being around us. It is wonderful to be woken in the morning and hearing them playing and running up and down the stairs. Thank you everyone for all your kind wishes, and especially to Ros for everything that she's done - for us and the doggies. We will keep you posted!

This is a little pic of Bobby and Shelley having a snooze this afternoon:

So pleased to see Shelley is settling in and being so brave. They will come out of their shells far quicker this time, having learnt to trust once.
So pleased they are both with you!

It's been three weeks since Shelley (and Bobby) arrived with us and it is difficult to believe how much they have both progressed. The first week was definitely a time of discovery (for us all!) with some anxieties for little Shelley. We noticed a tick on Shelley's forehead which although did not seem to bother her, did bother us. Amazingly the very next day it dropped off right in front of us! Consequently, we thought we should apply some spot-on treatment which was a bit traumatic for us all - but Shelley coped with it admirably. Shelley has continued to grow in confidence over the past 2 weeks (with Bobby's support of course) and she's the first to approach for food at mealtimes and completely transforms when there's treats about (she isn't afraid to gobble up Bobby's treats either if he's not quick enough!). Shelley also loves to play a particular game with us indoors and on occasions even initiates it. However, she is still nervous about going outside but with every outing, she is getting better. Today Shelley was a lot more relaxed with us putting her lead on to go outside and she and Bobby had a good sniff around the garden. Every morning Shelley greets us all with an enthusiastic 'dance' on her hind legs, which is a lovely way to start the day.

Here's Shelley's belly!

What a lovely update! Shelley is the quieter of the 2 but I'm sure she will get braver!

Her morning dance shows she is pleased to see you and is so funny to see!

You have done so well settling them in to their new home and I am sure she will get braver and braver over time.

Thank you for taking such good care of them both and keep us updated on your progress.

Since our last post Shelley has made so much progress, so there is much to write about! We go out and about every day and as often as possible so she can meet new doggie friends. We go out walking with her brother Bobby and she is always the first to say hello to absolutely any dog, big or small – she loves them all and is so excited meeting them. Her high-spirited tail wagging makes her very popular with everyone – she is still very nervous about people though – but getting braver and has started to come towards other people (even if it’s just for a little smell)! We regularly go to the beach and this is the highlight of her day and loves the complete experience. She takes the lead walking and running about the beach and we follow her. At home she really does enjoy company and being around us, whether it is watching the TV or being out in the garden. It is possible to stroke her a little now, which is a huge improvement considering how much she used to shy away from touch before! Similarly, when putting on her lead, she will now happily sit/lie and wait, rather than back off or hesitantly retreat.

She has had many new experiences going to different places and shops, meeting different people, vets for a check-up and the dog groomers, which she is trying hard to be better at. Walking about she is very good on the lead albeit excited but a lot of noise and cars does frighten her and she feels happier with Bobby at her side. Until quite recently Shelley has had an avoidance of all manhole covers but we have now at last accomplished walking over the smooth ones - although the ‘bumpier’ types still unsettle her.

Noises still upset her – even the smallest can startle her. But she is very, very gradually getting used to people and will on occasions actually go up to them. A few days ago, when we were on the beach, Shelley was so curious about a lady who had just come out of the sea for a swim (yes there are many here that do this every day!), but Shelley made a ‘bee line’ for her and went to say hello, which just shows how far she’s come along over the last few weeks.

So lovely to hear how brave and adventurous shelley is now.
They both look absolutely amazing!
So pleased that you have given them so much support and the patience they need to be living a 'normal' life.
Thank you Marion, Mark and Sam.
