Wilson made a new friend with Will who came for his taster session yesterday. Will ended up staying for hours as he and Di took Spencer out for a walk and then sat and had coffee whilst Wilson watched on happily enjoying the sunshine!
Wilson has come a long way and was quickly happy in Will's company, letting him take the leads on their outing! Several of the rest of us said hello too thumbs.gif

Wilson has come on leaps and bounds thanks to Diane's daily session with him. Today we had a water shower session in the backgarden and Wilson accepted the showering rain more by standing with Diane and 'digesting' the experience. He later ran around with Ethel and Owen. However at one point he was standing next to me and I was able to stroke him and placing the hose down cuddle him using both hands all over his head and neck. This he is now sharing with others the safe experience he enjoys with Diane. To seek out affection is novel for him and it is now grounded and part of his repertoire and step away from his feral/ fearful instinct 'fleeing' behaviours of his puppy and early adulthood. Wilson is coming through in a way that is transferable into a home settling now. He was always the one who stepped forwards first and wanted to touch you with his nose and stare into your eyes as if he was fascinated by the 'human' and meeting you as a soul.

Wilson is shaking off some very restricting emotional scales which will free him and enable him to trust, embrace and engage.

Wilson is indeed making wonderful progress with Diana. He is meeting and accepting attention form many new people and sharing sociable walks with many different RR dogs and their walkers. He seems very comfortable walking with his canine companions. Diana has said that he now waits to do his toileting while he is out on his walk, which is amazing for a ex feral dog. He has done this of his own accord, it is not something Diana has been asking of him. Such a clever boy. A round of applause is needed for the magic duo, Wilson and Diana. bravo1.gif

Wilson and I went off for a walk on our own today. Initially Wilson was looking back for Diana but after a bit he settled into his walk. stopping for sniffs. He did need a little encouragement, just kind, friendly words but he soon decided that it was OK to walk with me. I do know Wilson from spending lots of time with him and Owen when they first came to RR so I think this helped. I look forward to many more walks with Wilson and hope he will soon increase his trusted friends group and go off for walks with many different volunteers.
