Took Hugo home for a few hours last week and this boy was brilliant. After travelling in the car really well he was excited to get out and explore some new surroundings. Hugo is always great on the lead. Learning to relax more and settle when he passes people and dogs and now shows no reactive behaviour towards dogs. Obviously we don’t let any get too close and always alert to any off lead dogs we can enjoy a nice stress free walk.
So once we had a nice long walk I took Hugo in the house to have lunch well for me anyway and he settled down on my sofa in the kitchen. It was the only time I have ever seen him decompress and relax and I could see he was so happy to be in a home environment he went to sleep for a bit.
I know this boy has some trust issues but he really is a great dog who will make a great companion for someone who will understand his needs and work with him.

Lovely walk in the snow with Hugo today. He just pottered along enjoying all the scents that he came across.

Another social walk with two of our favourite boys!
Hugo continues to enjoy his walks with Rocky, and does seem happy to follow a calm dog that will ignore him.
Hugo likes someone to take the lead, that way all the good smells are pointed out in advance!
He will ensure he sniffs what Rocky does, and wees where Rocky does!
If Rocky slows down, Hugo will slow or wait without being asked and if Rocky speeds up so will Hugo!
The boys like to make sure they are close, but of course we keep a respectful distance.
Hugo can still be reactive of approaching dogs or people, but with space and head scrubs will more often than not ignore!
Hugo really is a delightful boy, please give me a chance to show you!

Hugo.
Well what can I say about this wonderful dog. He’s just the best. Not sure if it’s because he’s got older but he’s nice and calm when out on walks not taking much notice of any dogs and certainly no reaction or aggression ever. He’s always keen to leave his kennel but once out he plods along, not pulling and checking behind every so often to make sure I’m there.
I allow him to have a long lead around low density dog areas but when I need him to come back he listens and walks by my side.
Hugo has learnt many basic commands. Of course he’s a pro at sitting. We have learnt to wait at road junctions and threshold boundaries in his kennel. I’ve worked really hard to get him used to traffic and even though he can occasionally have the old little air snap at a big noisy lorry he walks lovely now. Hugo really just has a few trust issues but once he gets to know his handler this boy really is your best friend. I know he would settle in a home really well.
I have taken Hugo to my home where he has been a dream. He just needs someone who will manage his ways. Sadly Hugo won’t ever be able to be homed with another dog or any other animals and an adult home only but there is definitely someone out there for this boy. He just needs a chance.

Aww he just loves a cuddle on the lap this boy. He is such a special dog who loves his walkers. Once he gets to know you Hugo really is your best friend and loves to go on his walks. He is easy to walk and we go on lots of adventures around the village. He’s happy to walk past any dog with no bother and has learnt lots of commands like sitting and waiting at the road to cross. He travels well in the car and crate and in the home he’s a good boy too. Please consider this boy if you want a best friend who will give you just as much love back as you give him.
