I walk Royce at least once a week. I get a lovely welcome from him, always requires a tummy tickle before we harness him or set off. He often knows where he wants to go, and we have some lovely long walks. He doesn’t like bicycles, or people suddenly appearing behind him, and he is selective about the dogs he likes/dislikes. He is an easy walk as long as you are aware of what is happening around you.

Royce usually gives me the stubborn treatment if we don't travel the right route when walking. We always used to go down the village then under the motorway, but I've got a bit idle in my dotage. Today I acquiesced and we done 70% of the old route; which was agreeable to both parties. A couple of donkeys in a field and some cyclists speeding past got Royce's blood pumping. The boy enjoyed his time out and finished off his breakfast when we got back.

Had another lovely walk with Royce today. It was dry, warm, and Royce was very happy to be out and about. He was very good about the other dogs we passed, and ignored the workmen in the main road. I think Royce has slowed down a little as he gets older (don’t we all), and I think he is a little more tolerant.

Royce’s secure field and sleepover ❤️

I’ve been walking the handsome Royce for a few years now and honestly just completely adore him.
Royce loves his walkers wholeheartedly but can sometimes be nervous of new faces until he knows them. Over the past couple of Saturdays I have introduced him to my partner on walks and in the Paddock, in preparation for him to join us for a day and night away from kennels.
This week my grandparents went on holiday and we had some time off work so decided it was the perfect time to take full advantage of a quiet bungalow and big enclosed garden.
Having never had Royce overnight before (due only to me having a cat and dog at my own home) I did not know what to expect.. but I just cannot sing his praises enough!
I’m so very proud of him, he was perfectly behaved in the home and with us both.
Royce just wants to be loved and give love in return and spent the 24 hours showing us that even though he is 8 years old, he is still a big soppy puppy at heart.
He travels like an angel in the car, never making a sound, you can easily forget he’s even there. We left kennels Monday afternoon and spent an hour in a secure field where he was free to run and explore before heading back for the night where he was spoilt with toys, tasty food and showered with our undivided attention (All of which he deserved nothing less). Our evening was spent relaxing with many sofa cuddles and kisses, to which he ensured he shared equally between us both love4.gif
He made no attempt to take any food that was within his reach, only accepting what was given to him with such a gentle manor.
Every so often he would go and find his toy and parade it around the living room with such pride, it gave us the biggest smiles to see him so happy and relaxed. Completely house trained, he went out into the garden to do his business whenever we opened the door for him and then wandered back in when he was finished.
Being he is a big boy and knowing how much he liked to be close to us, we decided Royce could sleep in one room with me whilst my partner had another room, ensuring we all had enough space. He slept overnight snuggled into me on the bed with no noise and I woke up to the sweetest face and waggy tail this morning. Straight out for a toilet, followed by breakfast and a few more hours of sofa cuddles, we headed back to Smallfield for a big long walk around the village before returning him to kennels. He settled straight into his bed in his room with a good boy chew and seemed completely content after his short break.

I hope there is a home out there for our boy with the biggest heart ❤️ but until that day, my love for him will continue to grow!

Thank you Katie and Jack...what a difference a day (24 hours) makes

Royce's mood is much more buoyant and you can tell he benefited greatly

I thought I'd mention on his thread he does suffer from Canine flank alopecia (CFA)

Royce can lose his flank fur for months, and in the past it was sustained for a long period I really thought he'd never get his fur back. He did and since periodically he loses his flank fur for a several months and then it grows rapidly back. He is always well with it and he doesn't scratch or seem to bother him at all. At the moment his coat is luscious.

Oh my goodness.

I am so thrilled to read this. My heart is racing with happiness that wonderful Roycie got so much love and affection.

I have also been walking him for many years now and he is the most ‘all in’ dog when it comes to showing you his love.

He is desperate to love and trust people. And as soon as he gets over his suspicions about new people, which takes a bit of time and sounds like you managed perfectly, he is yours! He loves the people he loves 100%

The idea of him so happy with you that weekend is joy to me!

I too would have had overnights with him if we didn’t have our own dogs. He is such a gentle and wonderful friend to invite for a sleepover.

Thanks again. Lucky Roycie

Took the boy for some secure paddock time today ❤️

As always he was a complete angel in the car and travels so well.
We had a great run around and play with a new toy, brought especially on route for him 🤭

I’ll never be able to explain how much love I have for Roycie, there is just something so special about him and how much love he gives to his people.

Royce has the biggest heart and is so loving , as much as he brings joy to his walkers it’s sad to see him for so long waiting for a home , surely there must be someone out there ?? 💖
