If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £300 (£500 for a pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays. Gemma's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.

Gemma and Suki are such wonderful girls! We met them yesterday for the first time and they were so welcoming. Easy to harness and a dream to walk. They didn't mind the muddy woods and kept a chilled pace throughout the walk, not too slow, but not too fast either. They were great at stopping to let Breeze and a horse walk past, no reaction at all.
Suki, the black one, is the cheekiest of the two. Gemma is a bit more shy, but it's understandable as a lot has changed in their lives.
If you’re looking for two beautiful, calm and super soft girls, well, do submit an application form!!!

Re: Gemma Yellow Labrador (and Suki) DofB 21.4.16 RRemedies Centre
I had the opportunity to meet Gemma and Suki today and take them on individual walks.
Having returned from Suki’s walk, I found Gemma patiently waiting in the bedroom of the kennel. As soon as I opened the door Suki came in and Gemma went out, so it was easy to separate them once again.
I entered the outer kennel with Gemma, and she seemed happy to great me, if a little more nervous with a couple of barks just in case I wasn’t friendly.
Gemma soon decided I seemed alright, and within a few moments we were harnessed up and ready to go.
As we left the kennels we were again barked at by other excitable dogs and Gemma took no notice.
Gemma was keen to get out for a walk, and rather than finding her shy I found her equally enthusiastic and energetic as Suki, with a tail that wagged side to side as we trotted on through the mud.
We took the same route that Suki had done before her but this time there were no horses crossing our path or other dog walkers for most of the walk.
Gemma was happy and able to jump up on the bridges and over styles (as Suki had also been). Both also showed they would wait patiently when asked and were responsive to their names.
Gemma seemed slightly more skilled at avoiding the worst of the puddles thankfully given the mud showed up more on her pale colouring.
On a couple of occasions we spotted dogs ahead, but they did not cross our path fully. Gemma ignored the first, walked a good distance behind another. Paying them little attention and she did not feel the need to bark or pull towards them.
It was another enjoyable walk with the quiet, calm and confident Gemma. Hopefully the lovely calm manners displayed by bother these lovely girls, will soon rub off on some of their more excitable and nervous neighbours.
I will certainly look forward to walking these lovely ladies again soon. X

My first time walking these lovely labs.
Gemma greeted me with a bark and a waggy tail. Very easy to befriend and harness up. Nothing seems to bother her on her walk and just enjoyed ploughing through the mud, still wagging that tail and even let a squirrel pass without a bother. A true Lab in all ways

I absolutely love being with Gemma & Suki and my gosh are they bonded. Gemma’s confidence seems to have grown, I’d say she quite forthcoming but also more sensitive, and that Suki is more nonchalant and quietly confident. I found this today when Gemma started whimpering when Suki was about 2 metres behind us doing her business, she moaned until they were reunited after their long (sarcasm!) break away from each other. I really hope they find a home together, they have a wonderful nature. Unbothered by other dogs, wildlife and mud.. which is a lot more than I can say for Henry & Sweetie who I walked today who JUMPED over muddy puddles haha! They’re two chilled ladies unphased by everything as long as they’ve got each other! I love that their tails are always wagging too. I can’t imagine in her old age Suki will begin being gentle taking treats, she’s not alligator style but Gemma is definitely more polite when taking them
they’re so funny. I love how they compliment each other.

Today, Helen and I walked Suki and Gemma for the second time and found them as friendly as before, all chilled and unfazed by their surroundings. The mud slows you down in the woods and means single file in places and Gemma was keen to ensure that Suki was following. As others have said, these two look out for each other and really enjoyed their walk together.
They were easy to walk and would enhance any home.

Just adore these two. So easy to harness and are keen to get that walk started. Gemma is, as mentioned, the more confident of them both. I walked them both today, having to separate them with treats was a laugh but got there eventually. Gemma isn’t phased by anything and that includes the weather and all that gorgeous mud! She does take treats beautifully and loves her head rubs. I hope these two are snapped up very soon. They’ll bring a smile to anyone’s face.

Met these two angels today.
Welcomed us into their kennels and easy to get ready.
Such gentle sweet girls.
Not bothered by the horrible rain and puddles everywhere.
Both like a gentle stroke and take treats so nicely.
They were happy to be dried off before going back in their kennels.
Hopefully these lovely girls get their forever home soon.
