Current Status: Available
Charlie's Story: Charlie was the wrong choice for a disabled lady and he grew too large for her to manage. Having lost her Belgium Shepherd no one would home a Rescue dog with her so she bought a puppy. Charlie was been in kennels for around 5 months waiting for a Rescue place. She has since adopted a 10 yr old Springer who is an amazing companion. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place. Charlie is now neutered, chipped, and undergoing vaccinations. Charlie came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.
If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £300 (£500 for a pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays. Charlie's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original referral information: We were asked to help Charlie in his plight. Charlie came into RescueRemedies on the 20th Oct 25

Charlie arrived today and surprized us all...he is the size and look of a medium sized collie. A little wary at the moment as he learns to trust and familiarises himself with his surroundings.
Lovely boy everyone will be excited to meet you Charlie!!

Met new boy Charlie today, he’s a bit nervous currently but was very friendly. He’s not strong on the lead but was a bit busy whilst he took in his new surroundings! He seemed to know his name and sat nicely for a treat (or 10!) On the way back we spoke to another walker and he put his paws up for a stroke
he’s got beautiful colouring and look forward to him growing in confidence!

Yesterday and today I had the pleasure of meeting this gorgeous boy!
Charlie seemed slightly nervous for about 10 seconds when I first greeted him which is completely understandable being in a new environment, but relaxed and became very excited quickly afterwards! He showed me his loving side by placing his front paws on me and that was it - he melted me! He’s such a gentle, loving boy which is already abundantly clear.
He was quite skittish on our walks to begin with, which I put down to being overwhelmed by his surroundings, but he wasn’t strong, just zig-zagged to absorb all the smells! I think with some time he would relax and become more settled and comfortable. He’s a sweet, slim boy so isn’t very strong. On our walk today he followed another dog and didn’t react and wasn’t phased by their presence. He loved a treat and took them gently!
With some time, I think Charlie will grow in confidence and be a snuggly little love bug!

Charlie jumped into the dog mobile crate next to big Henry and not a peep. We stopped to buy Cat Litter and then went on to the vets. Charlie was first in and our Vet immediately was echoing what everyone has said - definitely collie behaviour and looks. He had a lot of hugs with the vet and some chicken treats and he didn't notice his vaccination. Charlie came in at 21 Kilograms and is an ideal weight.
All booked in for neuter on Monday a little walk on return.
Lovely, lovely boy.

I met Charlie for the first time today and he is adorable.
I was expecting him to be more nervous on entering his kennel but i got a wonderful welcome including cuddles.
We took our time harnessing and off we went around the grounds and down the lane.
I tried to get pictures but he zigzags so unfortunately nothing worth posting but take it from me and everyone who has met him he is very beautiful and likes affection.
Charlie loves to sniff everything and there is no pulling at all.
He is going to be very loved by all the walkers and hopefully in a home of his own soon.

Charlie is a lovely lovely boy! A bit nervous but very loving, leans in / puts his paws on you for a cuddle which is very cute. We tried to do a photo shoot for him today but he either doesn’t sit still for long enough or just wanted to be super close to his walker
he also loved playing with a toy today!

I’m a little bit in love with Charlie! He’s handsome, with the softest coat, affectionate, was friendly with the dog in the next paddock and leans against you for a stroke.

My walk with Charlie last week was an absolute delight. He was easy to harness and proved to be an excellent walker with a reliably loose leash—he didn't disappoint at all. In the paddock, he initially enjoyed some independent playtime before seeking out interaction, showing genuine affection and a super friendly nature. Charlie is an incredibly easy and charming companion.
