Rockie Shepherd x Husky DofB 11.24 RRemedies Centre
Current Status: Available
Rockie's Story: Rockie has been jumping homes through no fault of his own. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Rockie is now neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Rockie came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.
If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £300 (£500 for a pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays. Rockie's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original referral information: 7.9.25: Rockie was dumped at the vets last Friday. Traced original owner via chip said he wanted him back and seemed genuine. Then Wednesday passed him on again and they didn't want him.. too big for their flat..needed out today!

Took the beautiful Rockie out for a walk today. What a gorgeous boy he is. Very friendly and once out the kennels into the woodland he stopped pulling and walked lovely with me. Two horses were behind us at one point and he didn’t make a sound and moved out the way when I asked. He just watched the horses pass by with great intrigue but with no reaction at all.
We stopped on the way back and sat on a bench. He hopped up and laid on my lap which I wasn’t expecting. He seems very soppy and wanting affection. A real beauty inside and out. Hopefully he will find his forever home very soon.

Rockie had an afternoon out today with Andy at the Paws and Beats fundraiser! Rockie is a lovely boy and had a calm aura about him when meeting Swifty. x Rockie was happy to be stroked and met everyone well from all ages x Happy to take treats and was very gentle. An ambassador for his breed and rescue. I hope Rockie finds his forever home soon, he is ready for his forever sofa x

Met beautiful Rockie this week
What a stunning young boy!
We got to kennels a bit later in the afternoon so he was keen to get out but still very easy to harness and attach leads. We took him to the paddock for a run around and attempt to get some photos.
Rockie happily trotted around having a good sniff but also loved attention and following us around.
We can’t wait to get to know him more, he’s a lovely easy boy!

Rockie came to stay with us for a few days earlier in the week and he is a real delight. He jumped in the car straight away ready to go, and loved putting his head out of the window. As a big dog he does take up a fair amount of space, but will sit well enjoying the company in the back seat.
At home, he enjoyed having a good sniff around exploring the space and surroundings. He is house trained and seems to prefer just staying downstairs, unless he was following someone else. He does like to be in the centre of the action, and if someone goes out of the room he will immediately follow, or if the door is closed, even if someone else is in the room, he will jump up to open it. We have a bearded dragon that can move around a bit, some dogs get very excited with this, but Rockie just sat patiently watching it.
He can be very excitable when he knows he is going for a walk and likes to jump around all over the place, but once harnessed and on the lead ready to go he calms down. He can be quite strong but manageable. His colour and demeanor meant he got lots of compliments from everyone he met. He was gentle when meeting people of all ages, and played happily with dogs. He got plenty of exercise when he was here, enjoying long walks and different places and managed all of them well.
Around food, he probably does need a little more training, he can sit when asked but sometimes it takes a while, or he gets bored waiting and will go to jump up, however, it is easily manageable and he is eager to please. He practically inhales his dinner and it never lasts long!
Rockie is an amazing all rounder and will make a lovely addition to a family, or someone used to big beautiful dogs. He made a real impression on us, and it is great to see that he is already reserved as he will thrive in his forever home.

The lovely Rockie, a big bundle of joy who gives you a nice greeting before heading off on our walks. Walks well solo or alongside another dog. Rockie is a friendly boy, passes people, dogs and cyclists without any bother and does like to say hello. Patiently watches the horses pass us by and isn't phased by traffic. Listens well, likes exploring and taking in all the sniffs! Loves a cuddle and of course a treat. It's always a pleasure walking Rockie

Took rockie for a quick walk today and a play in the paddock. I also threw some treats on the floor for him to sniff out. He’s a very handsome boy!

I took Rockie for a walk and play in the paddock this week and what a friendly and happy boy he is! He does not understand his size and gives a very enthusiastic greeting!
He walks well and only pulls when he’s excited/ trying to chase something and this is still manageable. He is lively to harness, but a toy and/or treats helps a lot and he is just so excited to see you and go on a walk. He’s also such a sweet boy happy to stop for cuddles along the walk :)
And he looks so handsome and spooky with his Halloween bow tie!!
