Burt's Story: Burt was living in a domestic violence situation. The aggressor left and the children were removed and later returned. Burt was wary of the middle child with special needs so social services insisted he came out of his home today - he had nowhere to go. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place, saving his life. Burt is neutered, chipped, and undergoing vaccinations. Burt came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £300 (£500 for a pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

I walked Burt today. What a lovely, friendly, loving little chap. Very excited to have human interaction and to be going for a walk, but not a problem harnessing him. A slow walk as Burt stop to sniff at every opportunity, slack leads throughout, did not take any notice of passing dogs, and periodically looked up to me for reassurance/praise. An absolute darling - very easy walk.

Burt was very happy to go out for a walk today. And what a lovely boy he is!

He was keen to walk but didn’t pull at all on the leads and regularly turned around to check in with me.

He didn’t seem phased by anything on our walk and didn’t pay any attention to any of the other dogs we came across.

Lovely affectionate boy 💙💙

Met Burt for the first time the other day!

Such a happy doggie and welcomed me into his kennels with lots of tail wags. He was a little jumpy but very gentle and calmed down quickly. Was difficult to put his harness on as he was so excited!!!

Once I got him out we went to the paddock to get some energy out and we played chase, which led to him getting zoomies which was very funny. He is very affectionate and kept of coming over for cuddles 🥰

Afterwards we went for a walk and he was very good on the lead and ignored dogs. He loves to sniff and it was a very pleasant walk!

My first meet with Burt was very enjoyable and he is such a friendly and happy dog who would make a great pet. Can’t wait to walk him again🙂

My first walk with Burt yesterday. Handsome or what! He can melt you with his beautiful eyes. Yes, very excited in kennel but I don’t think this big pup has had much interaction with the wider world. He can be strong when doing a few happy leaps on the walk but overall an absolute gem. He will be very popular love4.gif

Oh Burt! What a lovely boy!! Today was the first day I met this handsome chap. He completely stole my heart. When in his kennel to put his harness on all he gave me were slobbery kisses!! He was very excited to get out, but calmed down quite quickly once we started moving. He was very well behaved and sat down for a treat! The majority of the time he walked with slacked leads and only pulled if he wanted to sniff something! I cannot wait to meet him again for more cuddles and kisses ❤️

I met Burt for the first time yesterday after hearing from other walkers what a wonderful boy he is.
He was so excited and happy to be going for a walk but easy to get ready.
Burt does this occasional hop in the air where I think he just gets so excited by everything around him.
He was doing lots of sniffing then laying down on the edge of the woodland path investigating.
Burts energy and happiness is very infectious - an absolute joy and pleasure to be around.
