If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £300 (£500 for a pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.
Jacqui's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.

Jacqui arrived today ...jumped in the dog mobile when Odie, our Dobie, was homed....
Tomorrow Jacqui will wake and begin to understand where she is, knowing she is safe and has many friends to get to know.

Briefly met this sweet girl today.
Very nervous in her kennel, not as much out and about. I have a feeling we’re going to see her flourish 🩷

Oh my Jacqui is rather gorgeous
She is definitely nervous of her new surroundings right now but was very happy to be with people and be stroked once out of her kennel and no reaction to the other dogs either - she relaxed a little as Charlie and I walked her around the grounds.
I had the absolute pleasure of taking some photos of this beautiful girl - the easy bit was taking the photos, the hard bit is choosing which ones to post, she was a natural for the camera and in more than a little smitten
Feast your eyes on her beauty …
She has the most beautiful eyes and colourings - she will relax more with us every day I’m sure and that tail will raise and wag
This is rather lovely with Charlie xxx

We walked Jacqui today for the first time and I’m so glad we did as we fell in love with her. I’m not sure of her background but she is very nervous at the moment with the loud noises and leaving her kennel but having said that she still came straight out to me to put her harness on and left her kennel without reacting to any of the dogs, just wanted to get out as quickly as she could!
We took Jacqui to the paddock where she had a good sniff around but just wanted some cuddles and she was very affectionate! She walked lovely whilst out in the woods and didn’t react to a thing. She didn’t pull on the leads and just seems so gentle even with taking treats. Overall she seems such a lovely girl and I can’t wait for her to settle in a bit more and loose those nerves but hoping she will be homed as soon as possible as I think she just needs a home to relax and have lots of cuddles!

Myself and Jack were due to walk the lovely new girl Jacqui yesterday
I’d been going into her kennel for the last couple of days to try and make friends. Jacqui would come forward to take treats from my hand but she’d then quickly turn around and go straight back to her bed, still very nervous.
Yesterday I noticed as I was coming back from a walk with Bleu that she was in the paddock.
I talked to her as I walked past and she seemed super happy, I decided to pop in and see her in there.
In the Paddock she was a completely different girl
She bounced over and threw herself straight onto my lap
I was IN LOVE! The ultimate cuddle bug.
We played in the paddock for a while, Jacqui showing off all her zoomies!
We then took her straight from the paddock for her walk.
Initially wary of her harness going over her head she would back away, but it was nothing a little treat couldn’t help with
On her walk Jacqui was an absolute dream!
No pulling at all, she followed Mischief for a while and then swapped and followed Sooty. Jacqui seemed completely content and calm with following other dogs.
This girl is an absolute dream
I can’t wait to walk her again but equally do not think she will be with us long!

Re: Jacqui Mastiff x DofB 21.01.24 Weekend Holiday
We picked up Jacqui today to take her away with us for a few days. She was very excited to see us and we went off for a walk before our drive. She was very unsure about getting in the car but with some encouragement got in. She didn’t make a sound the whole journey!
When we got to our Airbnb she was very interested in sniffing around! She let the people that own the Airbnb say hello, still had some nerves behind her but went up to them for a sniff and let them stroke her. We then went into our secure garden and opened the door to where we are staying and she wasn’t sure about going inside. It was a gradual thing over a few hours to get her to feel safe coming indoors and eventually she was in and out on her own. She’s so nervous of everything but gives things a go!
We had booked a secure field for her this evening to really run off some energy. This time she really didn’t want to get in the car. I had to try and lift her in (she’s quite heavy!) but we got there eventually. I think our main task this holiday will be getting her in the car! She loved the field and clearly loved the freedom. But again, was nervous to climb on things etc so I’d hate to think what has made her so nervous of everything but not once has she growled towards anything and she has stuck to us like glue!
Afterwards we went back to our Airbnb and we had dinner and Jacqui just played in the garden. Hopefully she will settle tonight but so far she’s been so good. I think her future home will have to be willing to give her time and patience to settle and get used to all the new noises and smells but with the right people I don’t think that will take very long!

Re: Jacqui Mastiff x DofB 21.01.24 Weekend Holiday
This morning I got woken up to a lick on the face! Jacqui settled really quickly last night and slept all night in her bed. We went for a little walk this morning and she came back for her breakfast. She doesn’t guard her bed or food at all but we’ve still given her the space she needs. Jacqui has had no accidents in the house either.
She’s still not a fan of getting in the car, it takes 2 of us to get her in, one holding her harness and another one giving her a lift in
but once she’s in she doesn’t make a sound, just looks out of the window so that might be something that will take time. We went to Battle Abbey and honestly she is so well behaved, people, dogs, sheep, she just carries on walking. She even got complemented by a few people on how lovely she walks on the lead and how well behaved she is. Jacqui enjoyed a doggy ice cream and is very interested in the food we eat too! She did very well with being in a busier high street and isn’t fazed by people or cars etc.
Our Airbnb host has 2 ridgebacks which Jacqui has met through the gate and didn’t seem too bothered. She’s still happy for people to say hello to her and stroke her but with a slow and gentle pace. She’s so friendly and just wants to be cuddling all of the time! We had lunch in a pub where again she behaved lovely, even started to fall asleep and eventually laid down for a nap after her busy morning! We then came back to our Airbnb where we all had a nap together!
Jacqui loves being outside and we’ve been lucky enough with the weather that we can leave the door open and she’s being coming in and out as she pleases. She can be very playful with her toys but doesn’t get too excited that it’s unmanageable. Overall she is just lovely and is definitely ready for her home. For a dog that came into to rescue petrified, is so nice to see her loving playful side. I can’t fault her at all. Whoever homes her will be one lucky family
