Princess's Story: Princess was found abandoned and unclaimed within a East Midlands council pound. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving her life. Princess is now neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Princess came to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting her new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £300 (£500 for a pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Lovely Princess has come to stay for a few days and she has certainly settled in.

When we arrived to pick her up she was waiting for us in the paddock. Super excited she showed just how high she can jump. Once she had calmed down a bit she was easy to harness and get in the car, and then immediately laid down for the rest of the journey and travelled well. She is quite dinky and we think she looks a bit like Dobby from Harry Potter with those ears!

At home she had a good sniff round and took time to explore. She is house trained, and has decided the most comfortable place to sleep is at the end of bed where she doesn’t move for the whole night. When we visited my mum, she also went upstairs and laid herself on the bed roflmao.gif so obviously knows where the best spots are!

IMG_4405.jpeg

Out and about she is excellent on the lead, generally walking next to you or just in front but doesn’t pull. She can be a little nervous around dogs, particularly off lead ones, preferring to meet gently and have an opportunity to sniff first and then decide if she wants to play. She does seem particularly taken with other lurchers.

Princess always meets people well and is gentle taking treats, she has jumped up at the counter a couple of times so don’t leave anything out! There have been a couple of comical moments where she has hidden treats we have given her, clearly saving them for later, but fascinating to watch.

Princess is the perfect house guest, and has settled quickly in to family life, enjoys long walks and company so would make a wonderful addition to any household, we hopes she finds her forever home soon.

Princess was spayed and vaccinated today. We reviewed her teeth and appreciated she is around 7 years old. She was blessed with a foster place offered by Caroline and was chaffeured by Geoff down to her seaside residence!

Gorgeous Princess was dropped off to me yesterday afternoon after her spay operation. She was a little bewildered at first but ate some chicken and rice later on and then gave me a waggy tail.🥰 she had a bit of an unsettled night waking up every couple of hours to patrol the hallway and drink water. This morning she had a good breakfast and spent the day lounging about with short walks for toilet breaks. She walks well on the lead and likes to greet everyone she meets. She's starting to settle now. While waiting for her dinner she did a little spin and prance so She's definitely recovering well.😅. Here are a few photos.

Beautiful, elegant, Princess, so aptly named, slept on my bed last night all the way through without stirring. She's much more bouncy today and really starting to settle in. She's such a gentle, friendly girl and wants to meet people on her walks. She especially likes to say hello to men it seems for some reason. Here are a few more photos of her. She was watching the garbage collectors through the window with interest. 😅

I have started practicing leaving Princess alone for short periods to get her used to it because next week I have to resume going on short visits for my work once a day on some days. She is definitely getting better at being left and with time I am sure she will be fine. First time I left her was yesterday for 10 minutes while I popped to the corner shop. I watched her on cctv the whole time. She howled a bit and jumped up at the front door a few times at first but she wasn't destructive or overly agitated. The next time I left her for an hour. She did settle after about 10 minutes lying on my bed with the occasional howl in protest. She wasn't at all interested in the frozen Kong I had left her. In fact when I returned I couldn't find it anywhere! I looked and looked and eventually found it buried under the blankets in her bed! 🤣. Today I had a doctors appointment and left her for 50 minutes. She was much calmer than yesterday. Settled down much faster and lay on my bed mostly with the occasional howl in protest. She wasn't interested in the licky mat and buried the dentastix I left her under the cushions on the sofa.
Princess is a lovely, gentle and very friendly dog. She wants to greet everyone she meets. She's affectionate and loving. She responds very well to "no" or "ah ah" and even a wagging finger! roflmao.gif I'm not sure she knows many commands though, but I will endeavour to teach her some. She spends all day snoozing on the sofa so she would be an excellent companion for someone working from home or for a family. She's starting to become more playful now as she recovers from her spay. If you want a lovely, pretty gentle, easy and affectionate dog I can highly recommend her.
