Walked Dukey boy today! Was a little over excited but settled nicely when we started walking. He tends to have bursts of energy and then calm down again within a couple of minutes. He has the kindest soul and the prettiest face

Duke attended the charity football tournament yesterday. He was a little (or not so little) star. He was happy for numerous strangers to come and say hello, and pet him. He enjoyed the fussing, and the treats!!. He walked beautifully and was not phased by the other dogs. I think he stole a few

Ah, Duke always steals hearts!! He's such a handsome boy :) Here is a pic of him at the charity football match with his walker Geoff.
I managed to get to the kennels today to walk Duke and he was in such great form. He was very excited to see me when I approached his kennel and after harnessing him and exiting, we had some cuddles before setting off on our walk. I find it is getting easier to redirect his excitement by using a tug toy, he really loves playing tug and it helps feed his natural instincts, which in turn helps calm him for a walk. We had a very settled walk overall, even passed a horse which he took interest in but no reaction. He sat nicely whilst it passed. As usual I took him to the paddock afterwards for some more games and a bit of training. He really is such great fun to be around. I sat with him in his kennels afterwards whilst he had his well deserved treat and cuddles. Love this boy so much

HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM DUKE

Re: Duke Mastiff DofB ?2021 RRemedies Centre
I managed to get to the kennels twice last week and of course, went to see my boy Duke

As always, excitement is high when he gets out of his kennels, but we have been working really hard on redirecting this with play, and this seems to work well to settle him. Once calm he can focus and responds well to commands. He sits well for treats and takes them really nicely. We spent some time sitting quietly before we headed back to his kennels. He is such a gorgeous boy and I love spending time with him.

What a privilege it was to be able to foster my Dukey Boy for a second time. This time, for a whole week! I wanted to see how he got on living a 'normal' week with me, and by that I mean coming to work with me every day. Well you have probably guessed it, he EXCELLED in all areas! Apart from a little car sickness again (bear in mind the drive back to London from the kennels is 2 hours), he actually travelled so much better this time. Settling on the back seat well. He loves sticking his head out of the window when we are driving slowly through town, just sniffing and taking it all in. When we got back to my house, it was like he had never left, he remembered where we were immediately!
I live in NW London and work in a gym in SW London, so I have to drive across London every day. Duke had to sit in the car for an hour or two whilst I worked (on a private road, directly outside the gym so I could see him at all times). He sat in the car beautifully, waiting for me to finish work. Never once cried or barked, just watched. I brought him into the gym a few times too, to meet some of the members and he was an instant hit! Duke is such a sociable boy, he just wants to be part of everything you do and be around people. All of my clients adored him.
We didn't get up to much in the evenings apart from chilling at home on the sofa - Duke's favourite place! He really is a giant sized lapdog! He LOVES curling up next to you on the sofa. He slept on my bed every night, in a tiny little ball at my feet, and every morning we had cuddles before we got up. He settled very quickly into my routine and was the easiest house guest I could ever imagine.
I had one day off work during the week, so I decided to walk from my house into Central London (about an hour's walk). It was so great to see Duke just taking it all in his stride, meeting people along the way. A few people stopped and asked about him, commented on how handsome he is. We stopped at Starbucks on the way home and I treated him to a pup cup, which he lapped up!!
Now whilst Duke is an absolute dream house guest, he is a strong boy and does need someone who can manage this. He has outbursts of excitement, which if not handled correctly, can be overwhelming. He is only made of good stuff though, not an ounce of malice in his body, he just needs someone to help guide him and feed his natural instincts. For instance, he loves to play tug, so every day I made sure we had a good game of tug for at least 5-10 mins a time. This really helped calm him and direct his grabbing/mouthing that he does.
I love this boy dearly, with every ounce of my being. I wish for nothing more than for this boy to be in a home for Christmas. In the meantime, here are some videos for you to watch. See you soon my handsome Dukey Boy.

Back at the kennels today after nearly 2 weeks off! Wow have I missed this boy! We were so lucky with the weather today, after days of gloomy, grey and wet weather. I think the dogs all felt it too. Duke was in great form. He was sooooo excited when I went to his kennel, not sure who missed who the most ;) After a lot of jumping about, kisses, licks and cuddles, we left for his walk. We did a nice long walk which I think he needed. He was overall fairly calm, apart from a few moments where he just wanted to play. As always I redirected his lead grabbing with a toy and we played tug for 5 minutes which he really enjoys. We passed a few people and he was as good as gold, just sat there nicely. We also passed two horse riders and Duke was a real superstar as you can see in the video below. He sat calmly and let them pass by. After our walk, we had some cuddles and chats in his kennels. It was so great to spend some quality time with Dukey Boy, I love him so much xx

I did another session at PAH this time with Alexis who bought along Duke who she is fostering. Duke is another wonderful ambassador for RR and took it in his stride enjoying all the attention and occasional treats.
