If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £300 (£500 for a pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays. Duke's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original referral information: We were asked to help Duke, who waited many weeks for us to find him a space.

Re: Duke Mastiff DofB ?2021 RRemedies Centre
Yesterday I got to meet this AMAZING boy and oh my goodness did he melt my heart.
A little excitable at first, but nothing hard to manage and he was easy to harness and get out on a wonderful walk! I’ve already established that he is a water baby and loved a paddle (and a lie down!) in the stream, as well as playing in puddles in the paddock. He is clearly affectionate and playful and was keen to receive strokes and attention. I can’t wait to see this gorgeous, handsome boy develop and hopefully get snapped up very very soon into his forever home!

I was so lucky to get to walk Duke again yesterday, every time I enter his kennel I am always met with a big smile, a wiggly butt and a few excited bounces. This boy really is the most handsome Duke there ever was
It was hot yesterday, but that didn't stop Duke's pace. He loves his walks but I also discovered he loves running too - so if you want an athletic dog to join you on your runs, Duke is your man! We enjoyed a walk (and run) in the shade of the woods and then I took him to the stream, which he loves (see video for evidence!) We passed a few dogs, some off leash, and he was as good as gold. Sat and watched but no reaction. A cyclist and a few pedestrians walked past too and yet again, he just sat and watched. I really did not want my time to end with Duke, so decided to take him to the paddock for some more one on one time. Duke loves to play! We had a good tug of war session (which he won of course!) and you can see him run his lap of honour in the video below. After a few tummy scratches and cuddles, we went back to his kennel where he sat so patiently for his treat. Until next time Duke, this boy really deserves a home and I have all my fingers and toes crossed for him. Love you Dukey boy!

I walked the wonderful Duke with 4 other dogs yesterday. They were all very comfortable in each other’s company, regularly swapping positions. Duke would happily have played with Mischief. When we got to the stream Duke went for a paddle, then decided the stream was ok and lay down, then rolled over - a good way to cool down!
Gorgeous friendly boy, very easy to walk

I met Duke for the first time today and what a lovely boy he is! Really easy to walk, very loving and enjoys a good treat. He likes to throw himself onto the grass and roll around on his back which is super cute.

First time meeting Duke the other day! Duke is very handsome and a really sweet dog. Welcome me with a very waggy tail and wanting to play.
Duke is still very young and very playful and the kennel environment definitely seems to make him stressed. When I first went into his kennels he was very jumpy and was wanting to play fight a lot. Eventually got his harness off and he was a lot better out of his kennels. Got him a toy which he squeaked loads and then he was happy. Getting him a squeaky toy helped settled him and then he didnt jump or mouth my arm.
A really lovely boy who is really friendly and seems good with dogs as well. I think outside of a kennels setting he would be a great pet just needs to work off some of the kennel stress! I really enjoyed my time in the paddock with him and he loves attention and playing ball!

I helped harness Duke today. I was quite firm with him, making him sit before I entered his kennel, take a treat then sit again when I was inside. We had an active cuddle, but putting his harness on was NOT a problem. He was very happy to be going for a walk, as Alexis did the honours. He is basically a very good boy.
