Words can’t describe how proud of this girl that I am.
She has become so much more confident since she first came to us after a tough start to life. She’s still a little nervous, but once she’s knows you she’s sweet as pie.
When she first came in I’d sit with her in her room and throw treats toward her, and she didn’t quite know what to do with them. Now she eats them from my hand, ever so gently.

I had the pleasure of my first walk with this gorgeous girl today. She couldn’t have a more perfect name - she’s a sweetie. Very easy to walk and happy plodding along and taking everything in. She’s definitely happier on harder ground and will find the less muddy routes - I don’t blame her! She walks beautifully past other dogs as if they are not there. A complete pro. We had a good cuddle when we got back to her kennel - and she was very pleased with her dental stick reward which she was definitely expecting. Don’t be fooled by her size - she is so gentle. I can’t wait to walk you again Sweetie girl.

Words can’t describe how far Sweetie has come since coming to the rescue! She was so scared of everything when she first got her and now, although she can still jump at certain things, her confidence has grown immensely! I love going to see Sweetie and getting her all excited for her walk. I recently took Sweetie along with some of the other dogs to the local coffee shop and although we didn’t go in, she was perfectly behaved outside while we waited for the drinks. She showed a real interest in my fav boy Bleu, very sweetly tried to be near him a lot. She’s a beautiful girl with a lot of the world to see and it bought me so much happiness seeing her out of her comfort zone, shining so much! She really seemed to love being out and about! Honestly believe this girl would just be so perfect in her forever home

First time walking Sweetie for a few months so was so happy to be seeing her again.
Lovely welcome and so easy to harness.
Definitely more comfortable and confident than she was.
Sweetie was happy to do a long walk round the woods however she did try her hardest to avoid the mud and did cute little hops over the worst parts
We had a little photo shoot and she sat perfectly for me.
Sweetie really is a beautiful girl inside and out and whoever homes her will be so very lucky.

Re: Sweetie Cane Corso DofB 06.05.23 Rainham Christmas Foster
We’ve had Sweetie for almost a week now. I wasn’t sure what to expect - we haven’t had a dog since our childhood and decided not only to take a strange dog in but also one that is quite big and strong. I needn’t have worried though - she is so easy to manage!
At the beginning she was a bit unsure, very alert - she didn’t know us and didn’t know what to expect.
What we have found out about her so far:
- she is very curious
- She needs to be around you / her people all the time
- She will follow her favourite person everywhere if free to do so (but doesn’t mind waiting patiently behind closed doors when that person uses the toilet for example)
- she knows car travel. She jumps straight in. She needs some time to settle though. She will be curious to see what’s happening in the front sticking her big head in the gap between the front seats. She might rest her head on your shoulder. She will look out the windows, she will be back and forth - windows in the back, front of the car. At some point she settles and even has a nap. I feel the more she travels the sooner she settles
- She loves food
- She will test you - see how far she can go, what she is allowed to do and what not
- She knows some commands - sit, down, up, paw, spin, bed, stay/wait, find
- If made she will sit and wait to be told ‘go’ to have her breakfast / dinner
- She will wait to be invited to jump on the bed ( however comes and goes on the sofa as she pleases)
- She has no recall but it should be easy to train her from what i have noticed trying myself (using the word ‘back’)
- She can be strong on the lead but normally walks very relaxed
- She mostly ignores anything around her - cars, people, bikes, motorbikes, dogs, birds. Now and then she will lunge at a bird or growl at a dog/ person
- She is very familiar with all the domestic sounds and will ignore them completely. Only thing she doesn’t like is Henry the hoover - just the look of it makes her bark.
- She is very alert when it comes to the outside sounds though - she does bark
- Neighbour’s 2 little Chis barked at her excessively in very close proximity and she completely ignored them
- I think she is good with her nose and enjoys finding little treats i have her search for in the house
- She likes the beach, not keen on the water
- She will endure you give her a bath, it’s not her favourite though
- She can be touched anywhere on her body, you can take her food away and she will not protest. Also us hugging/kissing/being close does not bother her at all or trigger any protector instincts - she just likes to be involved
you can kiss her, hug her, be all over her and she remains calm and seems to enjoy it
- She likes tug of war, playing with the ball although she gets bored of it quite quickly
- The longer we have her the more she relaxes and the more she sleeps/ naps
- She sleeps in her bed with us in the bedroom as she needs to be close to her people
- She doesn’t react to the door bell but will bark when you open the door
- She knows stairs
- Mirrors (her own reflection) don’t bother her
- She will wait to go out the house / car but that skill still needs some working on
- She likes belly rubs and head massages
- She gets a bit excited (doesn’t sit still) when she knows she is going for a walk but it’s easy to put her harness on
- She will steal your food, she will follow you in the kitchen, knows when a fridge door is opened and be instantly at your side, will try to snap something off your plate/hand/table but with training all this can be easily managed in my opinion
- She is smart but has some teenage moments especially when food is involved and she gets impatient
- She is clean in the house, we walk with her regularly but she seems to be able to hold it for quite some time. It seems she will alert you when she needs to go - we tried testing it once and she got a bit agitated and went to the door. Once outside she trotted to her
spot to relieve herself
- She was on a packed bus and definitely didn’t enjoy it however remained well behaved and calm throughout
- We went to visit a friend who has a cat, the cat was locked in a separate room while we were there, she sniffed around initially but remained calm
- We left her alone for 3.5hrs and she was perfectly fine, used this opportunity to sleep in the bed
It’s been an easy ride for us with her considering this is our first fostering experience after so many years without having a dog around.
