Sweetie's Story: Sweetie's owner fled from Domestic Violence. A family took her in with 3 other dogs until a Rescue Place could be found but can no longer hold her. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving her life. Sweetie will be neutered, chipped, and undergo vaccinations. Sweetie came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting her new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Sweetie has arrived. Here are two glimpse pictures. She is nervous of her new surroundings but kennelled close to the staff for reassurance.

Sweetie was fostered in a dog pack but it was too much to ask of her but I have put it up as it does show she has some dog skills.

Sooty and I had some lovely walks this week with Kobi and Sweetie.

They walked so well and enjoyed their time out together ♥️.

I walked Sweetie today for the first time and she is such a lovely girl. I was at the rescue when she first arrived and she was very nervous by all the noises and new smells but that’s not surprising considering her past. She can still be very nervous but is clearly happy to make new friends with a gentle and slow approach.

Sweetie already had her harness on today whilst she settles in but was happy to come over to me and let me clip the leads on. She was very excited to get out for a walk! Sweetie was happy to say hello to the walkers out in the car park and walked so nicely with another dog called Charlie.

Sweetie walks lovely on the lead and happily sat and waited whilst we spoke to another walker who had a dog with them. She knows basic commands such as sit, paw and let’s go. Every smell and noise interested her but any sudden or loud noises did spook her a little but she just needed a little reassurance. Sweetie is a lovely girl who is already very loved and we all can’t wait for her to come out of her shell a bit more which I don’t think will take very long! She is a lovely dog who deserves a loving family and forever home 💜

I am yet to walk Sweetie, but I have been popping in to her kennel to spend some time with her. I remember when she first came in, maybe a week ago, she was very shy and scared.

When sitting in with her she is nervous but when she realises I have treats and love to give she lets me give her lots of strokes.

It was a joy seeing her tail wag today as she left her kennel with Georgie, and she even jumped up at me for a sausage, something I’m not sure she’d have been confident enough to do a week ago.

Just shows how much how far a bit of love from all of our volunteers that have spent time with her can go.

My favourite thing is watching their confidence grow.

Selwyn and I had a lovely walk with Sweetie and Jude today to the stream.

Sweetie is doing amazingly and walked lovely with Selwyn, in fact they seemed quite fond of each other ♥️.

I met Sweetie today for the first time and she is soo beautiful and calm! She walked so nicely with Bailey and had slack leads most of the time, she was keen to keep Bailey and her walker close which was cute, I look forward to walking her again soon!
