Skye's Story: Skye was found abandoned and unclaimed within a Midlands pound. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving her life. Skye is now neutered, chipped, and undergo vaccinations. Skye came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting her new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Skye came into our Centre today after a long journey. Really lovely energy and receptive to meeting everyone. She is a mixed breed perfect blend of loveliness. Medium sized dog with a lilac fawn coat. Skye is settling with us after a long hot day.

I had the absolute pleasure of taking this gorgeous girl out today. We went to the paddock first off. There wasn't too much interaction as she was intent on taking in all the new smells.
We then went to the poets hut for a cuddle- she is very cuddly and affectionate love4.gif
Then as we headed off towards the common we bumped into Jan with Tommy..we joined them for a.lovely walk.
Skye walks nicely, interested in other dogs a little bit, it seems to be friendly intentions, and she seemed to want to make friends.
Back at kennels we met Paul so I tried to get some photos but she didn't stay still for long!
This girl is going to be popular :biggrin.gif:

What a gorgeous girl!

Walked this gorgeous girl first time Sunday… when I got to her kennel there was a lot going on with some very noisy next door neighbours which was causing her some stress, called her in into her bedroom and closed the hatch to keep her away from the chaos outside and she then totally relaxed. Easy to harness. A bit timid and not too sure what to make of all the attention and the cuddles she is receiving. She walked well and can be strong but she listens and will slow down when she is asked. I haven’t experienced any reactivities to other dogs, only on one occasion when she was spooked by a cyclist coming out suddenly from the woods, actually we both got spooked! No reactivity to people, passing children and prams. When passing other dogs we would stop at a distance to let them pass and she would politely and calmly wait for them to pass. Thoroughly enjoyed my time with this beautiful soul. She will be popular with the walkers!

I walked the lovely Skye yesterday and what a lovely lovely girl she is. She was very happy to see me but so wriggly that trying to get her harness on became a bit of a dance :smiley-gen013.gif: so in the end I clipped a lead onto her collar and then she stood perfectly still bless her and the harness was on in a trice. She was keen to get out so we set off at pace :smiley-chores002.gif: and stayed in the shade because it was very warm. Skye took no notice of the several other dogs we passed, completely non reactive and then to her utter joy she found a stick! Not, I might add, a little stick :no.gif: This stick was obviously a treasure beyond price and she carried it in her mouth for the rest of the walk dragging it though the undergrowth on either side of the path when required, and trailing fronds of sticky weed from one end. Well I wasn't too concerned, it was not after all going to fit through the gate back into the rescue grounds, let alone the door of her kennel run. When she angled her body to get it through the said gate I became a little more thoughtful :smiley-signs002.gif: and, as we rounded the corner, mentioned to the staff who were enjoying a well deserved tea break that I might need some help. They took one look at Skye and her prize stick and fell about laughing 0002.gif] but what was really sweet was that Skye wasn't interested in the treat Darren thought might persuade her to drop it, but let go of it in her desire to go up to him and say hello and be fussed love4.gif She got her treat back in her kennel, never fear! She is a real sweetheart xxxx

So Geoff took Skye out today to introduce a perspective new walker to the joys of walking our dogs. It was very hot, but they kept to the shade and Skye found another stick :smiley-dance017.gif:

Here is my stick
Here is my stick

I'm just going to pop it down for a breather

I met Skye for the first time today and she welcomed me into her kennel, she was a bit wriggly to harness though! Once out I didn’t see any reactivity to dogs but she does seem a little bit nervous and is alert to noises. We went to the paddock where she had a big chew and loved playing with the ball!

Had a second date with Skye…. She was very happy to see me and greeted with the biggest grin. She was keen to get out and explore. And explore she does, everything is of great interest and most curious to her, a butterfly, a bird! She isn’t motivated by treats whilst on walks, places to go places to see… no time! Unless we come across a particularly nice and juicy sticks….
Being a nice day today, there were lots of noisy and boisterous young cyclists with sudden moves and Skye behaved impeccably with zero reactivity towards them. She is a super girl, strong on the lead as she is keen to explore her new environment but does stop and check when you ask and slows down on the way back.

Today I had the pleasure of meeting this gorgeous girl and taking her for a walk. She was a little nervous at first when I went into her Kennel but after some reassurance she soon warmed up to me. We went for a short walk down to the stream where Skye had a little splash. I then took the lovely lady into the Paddock for some cuddles so I could get to know her a little more! She’s the sweetest girl ever and sat and gave paw for a biscuit! I can’t wait to walk her again! Kiss of love.gif

Met lovely Skye today and she welcomed me into her kennel.
She is a bit wriggly but we were soon on our way.
Skye walks beautifully and there was no reactivity to the various dogs and people we encountered.
She likes to have a good sniff so we took our time and just enjoyed the walk.
Skye is very affectionate and friendly.
I look forward to spending more time with this beautiful girl until her forever home is found.
