Re: Henry Neapolitan x DofB ?2020 Temp Foster

Post by SophieM »

I’ve just returned Henry after our second foster together and he has been the best boy!!! Here are some pros and cons of Henry…

Pros:
• He loves cuddles
• He knows down, sit, paw, other paw, wait
• He’s clean in the house and will tell you when he needs to go out
• He isn’t loud, he barked one time and I had him Tuesday-Saturday
• He walks mainly on a slack lead
• He is mostly quite lazy but does enjoy playing tug too
• He’s a lap dog
• Friendly & gentle
• Doesn’t run away from the hoover
• He will be your shadow

Cons:
• His farts

Overall, Henry was truly a perfect house guest as he was previously. He is everything that I, personally, would want in a dog. He is quite happy to chill out, but is also really up for a walk and absolutely loves to play tug but only when he’s having his funny 5 minutes making him quite a low maintenance dog in my personal opinion, as he’s not always begging for attention. As long as you give him cuddles and love, he’s one happy boy. Please expect a giant lap dog if you’re thinking of adopting Henry, this was one of my FAVOURITE things about him. He will absolutely plod himself on top of you and lay there whilst he sleeps. He's good in the car and just a top dog. When we were walking he was quite excited when seeing other dogs, I think it was playfulness but I didn’t want to take any risks due to him being my responsibility during the foster and not being sure what he’s actually like with other dogs. It’s obvious to expect some slobber from this boy, but only when he’s eaten or if you’re eating, it’s not a constant flow of drool. Henry is SO ready for his forever home and his forever family would just be so very lucky to have him! Love ya boyo ❤️

Henry was very happy today and loved chasing a ball and carrying it around in his mouth, but what he loves most of all is a good cuddle. He’s a big soppy lap dog who would love his own human to sit on!

I used Henry for a supported walk today because he is just the best! Easy to harness, walks at a good pace and looks affection. He walked very well with Casey today

Whoever adopts Henry is very lucky!

Henry is just the best! He's easy to walk and loves to play. We played tug for a good while, then he got tired and found a very nice squeaky ball in the paddock, and proceeded to play on his own while laying in the sun. He is a chilled, well-mannered and goofy boy. I gave him a scratch while he enjoyed chomping on the ball, and he started to fall asleep with it in his mouth. He has so much love to give, and such a brilliant personality!

On Saturday night me and Henry were bunk buddies at the big kennel sleepover!

I’ve had him on foster before, so I knew to expect a ton of cuddles and boy did he deliver!! Did I get pushed onto the floor a few times? Maybe. But it’s not often he gets to enjoy cuddles and a (slightly) comfy bed and lots of pillows, so I was happy to do so.

This boy is just so ready for his forever home or a long term foster, I’d have him forever if I didn’t have a rabbit at home. Whoever gets him is one lucky family ❤️

Dear Henry has lost weight and we have struggled to put it back on. We have worked hard and he has achieved solid poohs. We sent 3 stool samples off and in one stool sample he was found to have traces of Giardia (a tiny parasite). It is found in the small intestine.
Although animals can spread Giardia to people, you are unlikely to get a Giardia infection from dogs or cats. The type of Giardia that makes people sick is usually not the same type that makes dogs and cats sick.
We treat all our dogs for Giardia on arrival but it obviously hadn't been completely successful for it to linger. Henry is now starting the treatment again but for 2 weeks under the guidance of our vets.

We are hopeful it will clear quickly was it is only in trace form. Henry is well in himself and bright around the kennels.

I had the absolute pleasure of having Henry come and spend the weekend with me at home,

This boy is a special dog, he is loving l, well behaved, well house trained and just wants a forever sofa to lay on.

We started our weekend by having a chilled Thursday evening in front of the TV watching the football, Henry maybe the worlds largest lap dog and cuddle monster but i wouldn’t have him any other way, we had a nice cosy chilled night in whilst he settled into my home environment, he greeted my wife with the same love and cuddles as i got when she walked in from work.

Friday we spent a chilled morning at home and then in the afternoon went to a local secure doggy field which Henry LOVED, he gained more and more confidence as the walk went on running further away from me each time but still kept within eyes distance always stopping to make sure he could see me and then came running back when i called his name! Re call training ✅

Friday evening we hosted my Mum & Dad for dinner and Henry again greeted them with the same love and fuss as he has showed both me & the wife, Henry was really well behaved whilst we ate dinner and just layed on the sofa, watching us making sure we hadnt forgotten he was there, no signs of any begging for food at all.

Saturday came and we again had a nice chilled morning at home and then the mother & father in law came over to meet Henry and give him the fuss he deserves, we again had a secure doggy field booked and me and the father in law took Henry and again he absolutely loved it!

Henry spent the whole of Saturday night laying like a human in-between me & the wife cuddled up taking turns to rest his head on us both, it’s like he knew his foster break was coming to an end 😢

All in all, Henry is an amazing brilliant dog who desperately needs a forever sofa to lay on. He is handsome, funny, loving, gentle and drooly and i literally wouldn’t have him any other way. Thank you Henry for such a fun and brilliant weekend!

Here is a fantastic video of Henry enjoying his break with Dan and family - really showcases how good he is in a home. The biggest lap dog there ever was! 😍

Henry is such a sweet and loving dog, whoever adopts him will enjoy alll the cuddles!

I haven’t walked Henry in a few weeks and he seemed so much happier today, so excited for his walk (but still easy to harness), I took him to the paddock where he galloped around and we found a toy that he loved! His play ‘grrrs’ are so funny, he enjoyed a stroke whilst holding it and let me pick it up, no guarding of it at all. He really is the best boy love4.gif
