Gitano Cane Corso DofB 20.03.20 RRemedies Centre

First time meet and walk with Gitano (thanks GeorginaM) ; having heard his deep sonorous bark to passing walkers in the kennels. What a gentle giant he is, remains still for harness on and waits patiently to get out for his walk. Walk to paddock to have a roll free of leads and then stroll through woods. Gitano is a slow plodder and occasional sniffer. Responded to the English hard “G” Gitano, as much as the softer Spanish “Hee-tah-noh” for treats by sitting and presenting a paw. Fabulous hound who needs a forever home.

Gitano is the most wonderful boy. Soppy and a gentle soul. He loves a roll in the paddock first, then he’s ready for his walk, which is always at a relaxed pace which makes it lovely for his walkers too. Gitano is strong but he only tends to pull when leaving his kennel. Such a special dog.

Gitano (has to be said in an Italian accent for him to understand ;) The most gentle giant there ever was. He is such a soppy boy, loves nothing more than cuddles, belly rubs and kisses (oh, and treats of course!) Strong lad, but just so wonderful to be around. I spent time with him today in the paddock with Kaz (he loves Kaz). I really hope he catches someone's eye, he deserves a big sofa and a warm loving home. See you next week Gitano xxx

I introduced Gitano to a new walker today and he was such a good boy! Bit strong getting out the kennel but once out he generally plods along- we took him to the paddock where he enjoyed a roll around in the dirt, lots of treats and scratches

This big beautiful goof met Scarlet today and safe to say they fell in love. Scarlet hasn’t walked him before so Alexis and I took Gitano to the paddock together and Scarlet walked behind and he showed no fear so Scarlet came in with us.. the pictures show how that went! Gitano sunbathed and we showered him with love. He wasn’t bothered about running round, he just wanted some fuss and a roll on the grass. This big, beautiful boy really deserves to be back in a home and living the life in the garden and sunbathing by the window!

Ok, I will admit, I have fallen in love with Gitano! Georgie and Alexis introduced me yesterday, and he is very sweet! He doesn't want for much, just wants to roll around, and have scratches and cuddles. He even started to fall asleep in the grass while we gave him fuss. Gitano might be a big boy, but proved to be a gentle giant. You can tell he's exhausted in kennels, and just wants to chill. I hope he finds his forever sofa to lounge on soon (might need to be a big one, but I'm sure he would share!)
He is a lovely boy, I can't wait to spend time with him again :)

Lovely Gitano, he enjoys plodding along for most of the walk, a mooch round the paddock and a few treats!

I've been wanting to walk Gitano for ages but when he first arrived he was a little nervous of me and would bark and retreat to the inside half of his kennel when I approached to say hello. But these days he's perfectly happy with me coming close; not making a sound and gently accepting my sausage treats.
As it has been like this for some time now I today attempted an in-kennel great. Unfortunately, as soon as he could see I was about to open the door he would calmly walk back inside, returning once I stepped back. After a few tries, I sent in Gem instead, as he seems to prefer the ladies!
He was more accepting of this but we ultimately also accepted the offer of assistance from Amy to harness him up and guide him out - thanks Amy!
He exited without any drama and Gem and I took him to the paddock so we could all get more aquainted with each other. He enjoyed a good roll around, some scratches/tickles and of course some treats! It took no time for myself and Gitano to decide that we absolutely no issue with each other, so we called time on the paddock and all headed out for a walk.
He was an absolutely dream - slack leads, and no reactivity worthy of mention. Afterwards, Gitano was more than happy with me returning him to his kennel and removing his harness.
I'm confident he'll allow me to get him ready and out next time... which is tomorrow Gitano!

The weather was quite miserable yesterday but the dogs still need to get out and I managed to convince Gitano to (a) allow me to harness him up, (b) go for a walk in the showery rain.
We had to wait at the boundary of the site for a minute due to doggy congestion at the gate, but Gitano did so patiently. At one point he thought, "let's just walk this way instead then" and I must admit that I had no choice but to follow him for a few steps until I got the measure of his strength and managed to convince him 9 come back with me!
Once on our walk proper, Gitano walked beautifully. Despite his size and long legs, he walks at a perfect pace for me, continually on slack leads. Perfect!
We did have a man jog towards us at one point and he politely stepped to the side when asked; Gitano did have a little grumble at him when we went by but he was easily moved on and immediately let it go. Exactly the same thing happened a second time later in the walk, so it's something to be aware of, for the moment at least. I think it's just nerves rather than anything serious.
Gitano is a big boy and a big softy and I'm delighted that he's accepted me into his circle of walkers.
