Libby and I took Gitano for a walk around the woods at the end of the day today and he basically showed us the way.
He is a big lad and potentially strong but he was an absolute angel today and walked beautifully.
Kiss of love.gif
When we got back on site Gitano had clearly not had enough so he led us to the paddock where he chilled for 10 minutes in the late afternoon sun.
As always he returned to his kennel with grace and a little bit of swagger.

Gitano is a big softie once he knows you, generally walks well but does have a good bark when passing the other kennel dogs and has some strength behind him as he’s a big boy! Karen gave him a kong with some treats in which was light work for him because it was quite small but was cute watching him use his paws to get them out.

Video below shows him getting the zoomies which was funny, we think he’s aware of his size because he stops himself before he zooms into you.

He’s a very good boy and knows Paw and Sit, Karen was teaching him how to spin today.

Such a big soft spot for Gitano. He gives it the big “I’m a big scary dog” but when he’s with his human friends he couldn’t be a bigger softie. Sometimes I just want to get on the floor with him and give him a cuddle!

I enjoy my walks with him but I must admit, spending time with him in the paddock is so wonderful as you get to see more of his soppy side ❤️

And a couple of pics and videos from Georgie.

I have such a soft spot for this gentle giant! He really is a kind natured soul with a lot of love to give and loves to receive it right back. A lot of people are wary of him due to his size and I think he can come across wrong in his kennel as he’s stressed out and a bit wired. However, once he’s out, he’s a different dog. Soft, gentle, kind and just melts into a big baby. Amy and I walked him yesterday (as we have to have 2 of us at the kennels to walk him) and he was a perfect gentleman. I held the leads and had Amy there incase anything happened but he walked slack leads, no pulling, we walked down to the river and he wet his paws before we walked alongside the road on the way back and he didn’t react to anything, with busy cars and Lorrie’s going past, sometimes it can scare our dogs, but not our G man! The more people he meets, the more friends he is making. I really do think this big boy would love a big sofa to cuddle up to some new parents with ♥️

Gitano is the definition of a big friendly giant, he’s easy to harness up and in general plods along (he is a big boy though so has the potential to be strong), he loves a good scratch and a roll around

It’s very funny to watch Gitano ‘play’ with a ball, he much prefers to roll around and get tummy rubs (it could be because he was more interested in getting back to his kennel for dinner though!)

Amy and I took the big fella Gitano to the paddock today.
He can be strong on exit but once realises he is going for a walk settles in to an easy pace.
Gitano always has a good old roll around and likes a tummy rub.
He is so friendly with the biggest paws ever which he gives you in order to get a treat.

Amy got him moving around a lot today by throwing treats all over the floor and he seemed to like this game.
Gitano was very chilled walking back and even happier when he realised it was dinner time.
It would be so good to see him settled in a home of his own.

Charlie and I took Gitano to the paddock and I stayed with him and tried to entertain him.
We played with a kong then we did a treasure hunt with treats then we did some basic commands which he is very good at.
I also brushed him which he definitely enjoyed.
Finally I gave him a pigs ear which he ate in record time.
The first picture is him not being able to quite reach a treat (obviously i then moved it closer so he could get it)
The second picture devouring a pigs ear.
Gitano in the right home with the relevant experience would be such an easy dog as he is so well behaved and has clearly had training.
He is a very beautiful boy.

Gitano is the dog version of the BFG (big, friendly giant).

It was a great pleasure to take Gitano out for a walk. He was so gentle, just plodding along. We took him down to the stream and he had a wander about; not getting over-excited, like some dogs can, but taking it all in his easy stride and stopping to take in the environment and have a sniff. When we returned to the kennels, he greeted everyone with a friendly, calm manner. He sat on command took treats gently. He really is a sweet boy.
