Current Status: Available
Pluto's Story: Pluto was found abandoned and unclaimed within a Northern council pound. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Pluto is neutered, chipped, and is fully vaccinated. Pluto came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.
If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays. Pluto's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original referral information: Pluto was losing his life so the pound pullers have fundraised a month's kennels so he is safe until we can take him at the end of April.
Pluto came into RescueRemedies on the 30th April 25.

I grabbed the chance today of giving the two new boys (Pluto and Leon) their first proper walk since arriving at the Rescue yesterday.
Pluto is a handsome boy; tall and slender, with the "woof" of a larger dog, although at the age of around 4 years, he has done all his growing.
It was a welcoming woof he gave me when I first approached his kennel and after just a few seconds and the acceptance of a couple of my sausage treats, I was confident he was happy for me join him inside. He was already harnessed so I had nothing more to do than offer some hands-on hellos and attach my leads before we were able to head out.
That was accomplished without any fuss and clear of the hustle and bustle of the Rescue I was immediately struck with how calm and relaxed he was. He walked perfectly, typically by my side with slack leads - all the more impressive when you consider it was his first outing and he didn't have a clue where I was taking him!
There wasn't much "traffic" on our 40 minute walk, and while he ignored the couple of people and the single van that we passed, he did take an interest in the couple of dogs we encountered. But, keeping him to the side as they passed (as is the protocol), all he did was give a macho woof and make a half-hearted attempt at a bounce towards them - all perfectly manageable.
Being a warm day, we took both opportunities to visit the stream and he was content to plonk his front paws in and take a drink.
Each of the sausauge treats I offered on our way around was taken every so gently - Pluto is a very well-mannered boy!
All too soon, our walk was complete. It may have been our first walk together, but it certainly won't be our last. And yes, you've guessed it, this lovely lad has joined my long list of favourites!
More information in my commentary in the following video!

We walked Pluto today with Berry. Pluto is a very friendly, sweet and well-behaved boy, who was delighted to be going out for a walk. He didn’t pull on the lead, and seemed to match his pace to the humans. If he got too far in front of Berry he would stop and wait for her. Pluto and Berry were very relaxed in each other’s company. A really lovely walk.

I think I’m in love! At first I wasn’t sure if Pluto was going to give me a slightly more energetic walk because he’s quite loud and bouncy in his kennel, but as soon as that door opened it was a proper plod the whole way (my type of walking
)
He even knows sit and paw! We followed Tommy down the lane and he had no reaction to him, which is always nice to see. Just an all over chilled boy. I can’t help thinking he’s got some dobie in him, his face reminds me a lot of Odie’s!

Oh my goodness where do I begin with this boy? Firstly, he is just beautiful. Secondly, he is so gentle-natured. He clearly loves people and tends to lean on you and enjoy strokes and cuddles! He sits and is keen to give his paw!
He is still learning his manners and was a little unsure when other dogs would pass, but after a few barks and a “come on” command, he happily kept walking. He walked really well on the lead, very gentle and not much redirection at all. Just a gorgeous, gentle plodder and easy to harness! I am already in love and can’t wait to walk him again!

I met the handsome Pluto for a walk today. What a lovely friendly gentle giant of a dog.
Though excited in his kennel there was no pulling and as soon as we were out of the gate he was matching my pace and plodding around so calmly, a peaceful boy indeed.
We passed a couple with some barky small dogs, at a distance in the woods and changing our route to cross the river and avoid any confrontation. Pluto was interested in the noisy pair but he took direction and did not feel the need to bark back or lunge toward them.
We also met a bouncy medium size dog on lead with his owner who looked like he might invite Pluto to play and Pluto did give a little growl so we moved on swiftly. After we passed the dog, at a distance, Pluto did bounce toward them slightly, but was soon happy to resume our walk without any further issue.
We paused during our walk for a little drink and it took a moment of asking for a sit before I got one. I noticed that as soon as Pluto’s bottom touched the floor he also wanted to give me one or both muddy paws, which slightly defeated the point and became more of a tall dog cuddle than a sit. But he loved drinking from my water bottle and took his treat very gently. A very happy Gentle Giant.
We continued on our way and though Pluto was interested in the other lone walker who stopped for us to pass, he was happy for me to direct him away without and pulling to say hello.
Despite his size Pluto is a gentle plodder who likes to walk neatly by your side, with loose leads. What a lovely gentleman he is!
I will look forward to our next walk, that is until you find someone looking for a large companion with seemingly easy going nature and a gentle relaxed pace of life.

Pluto had a little ride in the van today and then a short mooch around the grounds. Friendly with everyone he met and walks very well. Lovely dog.

I finally got to walk Pluto today after reading what a wonderful boy he is.
Pluto was excited to be going for a walk and was extremely easy to get ready.
What a beautiful walker this boy is not a single pull or reaction.
I wasn’t surprised as i have seen Pluto playing with other dogs.
Pluto is very friendly, sweet and so polite taking treats.
Until he finds his forever home i look forward to seeing him and walking him again.
