Sasha's Story: Sasha was handed in to a vet, having been taken in following a RTA. She was put under for examination and the main damage was a fractured tooth, strained jaw and bruising. Sasha was taken in by a family but they returned her 3 days later as she was too 'feral' and she wasn't ready for human affection. The receiving vets kindly spayed, chipped and 1st vaccinated when we offered her a Rescue Space. Sasha is in Gatwick Cattery whilst awaiting her new family.
If you are interested in rehoming one of our cats, please complete our Cat Homing Questionnaire. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new cat within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay cats: Our minimum adoption donation is £175. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our cats need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our cats back-up for life.
Sasha's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our cats, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original Referral information: We were asked if we would help Sasha. Thought to be in a RTA, after a full Vet assessment she had no 'real' damage. She was semi feral and the family who took her in, didn't want her. The Vets who took her in said they would only prep her for homing if a rescue place was offered. Sasha came into RescueRemedies on the 21st February 25

Sasha has become my "go to" cat..for little chats throughout the day
She has been presenting as very very scared, if not feral. She hasn't been seen to move from her corner but must do overnight.
This video shows progress no hissing, her ears are natural not pinned to her head, and she is brave enough to lean forwards to savour her food despite my obvious presence. She has begun her journey. Sasha just needs to trust and know no pressure is placed on her ....we have all the time in the world

I had a lovely chat to Sasha today, I talked and she listened! She’s not ready to let you get close, but we’re just getting her used to human voices.

Sasha might have a long to go but it's really important to always praise every changes, doesn't matter how small they might seem!
She us still very much frightened by humans presence, but doesn't allow you to put treats in front of her without being aggressive.
THIS IS A HUGE STEP!!!
I cannot wait to gain her trust and make her comfortable

Six weeks with us and although Sasha has only once been in the run she is beginning to command her space. Today a bed was put into her corner which when she first came would have been her saviour to hide away in. Today yes comfortable BUT I cant quite see what is going on so I move to a better vantage point. Sasha is listening ..she loves being talked to and has done little lip movements and her eyes are softening..+++

Sasha has been on a journey this week all because on of the staff changed her flat comfy bed and put a fluffy peach on into her corner. She had the opportunity to hid but actually she is used to watching so she had her head over the top to see..she can look out of the main door and watch the goings on. For the last few weeks whilst Sash occupied her corner you could see Holly and Davy had been displaced the the ground level and were a little uncomfortable. Yesterday as you saw Sasha go up for her food and is even now going to ground zero off her ledge for food. Oh my Holly jumped into the peach bed and Davy was soon on the ledge beside the bed looking a little bit smily! So Sasha now was ground zero and even looking into the run oh my!

Sasha was looking a bit more relaxed this morning, came and sat outside with Davy for a while.

Sacha is a beautiful cat and definitely seems to be more confident of her surroundings and more relaxed. For the first time with me she came out for some treats.

Sasha is definitely becoming braver, she ventures outside now and settles down to watch what’s going on around her.
