48 Hours with Bells
Bells came to stay for the weekend - I picked her up from the kennels after work on Friday, she jumped in the car no problem, she travels well in the car but likes to wonder across the back seats (she is harnessed in) and look out the back windows. Back at the house she went in through the front door this week without any issues and immediately went into the back garden to explore and picked up the stuffed banana I had given her last week - I'm afraid that the banana is now stuffing less, with the stuffing being distributed around the garden
She didn't want to come into the kitchen for her dinner, I ended up giving it to her in the garden but she got a bit spooked with the back door moving with the wind. Saturday morning after going out in the garden I put down her breakfast, this time she ate it but apprehensively, stretching as far as she could to reach the bowl. You wonder if she wasn't allowed in the kitchen at her last home. We had a nice walk to Tilgate park to meet Jim after his Parkrun, she walked really well on the leads, no pulling and waited at kerbs, occasionally sitting and waiting when light changes permitted. She walked past people walking, running and on their bikes without any reaction, also saw a couple of cats which she paid no attention too. On the way back from the park we visited the pet shop where she was given treats and I brought a kong, when we got home I filled it with treats which she loved
After helping me in the garden - she was carrying what I had cut back to the green bin, we had an evening in watching TV, she snores (may be worse than Jim when he's been drinking
) but it was lovely to see and hear her so relaxed
She slept most of the night in her bed beside our bed otherwise she went downstairs and slept on the sofa. She is a real cuddle monster with the softest fur who is trying to adapt to a home environment and a garden to run around. Picking her up again on Friday to have over the Easter holidays unless her forever home comes first!

Bells Bells Bells - what a beautiful, funny, friendly, affectionate girl you are!
I have a real soft spot for Bells, she is such a friendly dog who loves affection and attention. She is quite excitable and can jump up but if this is the case, she responds very well to a firm “no”. Today she enjoyed walking with a soft toy in the mouth, this seemed to help focus her and she plodded along gorgeously.
Bells really does deserve a family to call her own. She has soooo much love to give and with a bit of time and patience would make the most fantastic companion.
I am routing for Bells to find her forever home this year, it would bring me so much joy to see her happy, comfortable and settled with her new family
P.s look at that beautiful smile!!!!!

Bells' Diary
Friday - after Debby had walked some of the other kennel dogs it was my time, we headed for the small paddock with Scarlet where I learnt some new tricks to try to control my excitement. We then headed back to Debby's and it was great to be back running around the garden and checking everything was still OK, I cuddled up to Debby in the evening and watched TV.
Saturday - We went for a walk first thing, I know where the squirrels are so I'm on high alert when we walk past these areas (you can never be too careful) we saw bikes and scooters but I just ignored these and carried on. Later that morning we went to pick up Sophie and drove to Pets at Home in East Grinstead where Sophie brought me a knuckle bone to keep me busy whilst Debby & Sophie manned the Rescue Remedies stall and told people about the wonderful rescue. I was quite possessive of the bone so Debby had to keep an eye in case anyone came to near to me and I thought that they may take it! After a while I wanted to keep it safe from others so I climbed into the cat litter shelf and hid it until later. After we took Sophie home we went back to Debby and Jim's where I slept until it was walkies time and after my dinner I was asleep again. Sunday - Jim was doing a charity run for the local hospice so Debby & I thought we would tag along and walk at the back - we all got a memento for taking part mine was a bag of treats there's was a bottle of rum! Unfortunately I got bored whilst we were waiting to start and wanted to play tug on one of my leads, Debby let me then when she didn't want to play anymore I grabbed her sleeve to carry on so got told off.
Monday - Jim was off and Debby went to work, I had the day to entertain Jim which we did in stints whilst he was trying to read the paper and making his dinner, when Debby got home later I was very pleased to see her and spent the evening sprawled across her.
Tuesday - Debby went to work again, Jim went for a run so I was left for 2 hours, I just stayed in my bed and had a stretch every now again (Debby was checking on the camera) I played fetch and tuggy with Jim for the rest of the day until he had to start work. He was working from home so I had to supervise him until Debby got home.
Wednesday - Debby is working from home, I've had to supervise her and then also check on Jim before he went to work. I'm about to head out for my afternoon walk and then have my dinner.
What I have learnt since Friday - Jim & Debby will play with me and can tell when I get too excited they will stop playing to calm me down, either with a nice head massage or a belly rub.
When I go for a walk I'm not to grab the lead to play tuggy with it and if I walk nicely everyone is more relaxed and happy.
I am still young, I've had a sheltered life but can prove myself in a home. I get excited and can use my teeth sometimes but I'm told that I have got so much better over the past 48 hours. I pick things up quickly and am looking for a home with someone that is willing to invest time in me and return you will get the most loving dog, who snores

Bells' Diary - 2nd part
Thursday - Debby was working from home again so I had to supervise again, I kept one eye on her the whole time! After work Debby took me for a walk and I had my dinner, she was doing an online power yin session so I watched from a distance, then for the laying down part I was able to join in and climbed on Debby cuddling in to make sure I wasn't missing out
Friday - Debby had to do some chores, I stayed out of the way and found a good spot in the sunshine Debby went out for the afternoon/evening but I stayed with Jim who was working from home, when Debby came home we snuggled on the sofa watching TV until bed time.
Saturday - Jim & Debby both went out and I was left alone for about 30 mins - I was a good girl, staying in my bed snoozing - I mean I was keeping guard of the house!!
Sunday - Jim and Debby went to help at Junior Parkrun and again I stayed at home for a couple of hours, no issues and I was pleased to see them when they got back
We then went for a lovely walk to see the bluebells, we did 6.5 miles and I kept going all the time When we got back I was so tired I fell asleep on the sofa not leaving any space for Debby & Jim Monday - Jim went out to a race in Lewes, whilst he was out Debby and I had a nice walk together - apparently I have got so much better and don't grab the lead so much now. I do get excited especially when I see another dog but a firm no and I do drop the lead and carry on walking. After lunch it was time for Debby to take me back to the kennels, she was very sad and I knew something was going on as stayed by her side before we left.
I have learnt so much staying at Jim & Debby's for the past 11 days and I am really grateful for the time away from the kennels showing that I am a good girl in the home, I love to run round the garden playing with my toys but also snuggling on the sofa for cuddles. Do you have a Bells shaped hole in your life

I haven’t walked Bells since she first came in so what a joy to spend time with her today.
We met up with Enya who likes to follow another dog and they got on very well together.
Bells occasionally gets overexcited and can grab the leads but some quick distraction ie a sit and shes over it.
We had a great walk no pulling just a few sniffs and wonderful eye contact and listening.
Gorgeous girl ready for her own home.

I enjoyed walking Bells so much yesterday so was delighted to get the opportunity to take her out again today.
Bells is super excited when you go in her kennel and can grab the leads to start but very easily distracted as she so wants to please.
She was an angel on our walk so for a special treat we went to stream and she absolutely loved it.
Bells is also partial to a roll around the floor so on our return i brushed her and she loved it.
Bells has a real zest for life, she is so good natured and friendly. She would make the most wonderful addition to any family.

Lucky me got to take sweet Bells out today.
We had an extra long walk seeing as it was my last walk today.
Bells is so happy and such fun to be around enjoying and embracing every moment.
Freya followed behind us and they were happy in each other’s presence.
Bells definitely has a thing for water she was literally jumping in the puddles.
Bells will make such a joyful addition to any family.

Not had the chance to walk Bells for a month, I’m sure she remembered me and was pleased to see me. After the initial excitement she was happy to be out joining Enya & Kobi on a walk, she likes to keep moving otherwise she can get bored and try to grab the leads. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to walk her again next week
