Dezzy's Story: Dezzy is now retired from Racing. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place. Dezzy is now neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Dezzy came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting her new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Dezzy is a very pretty greyhound who is obviously totally unsure of her surroundings right now. I don't think it will taker her long to settle, she has a super kennel mate in dear Duke and although she was pretty reluctant to leave her kennel, with gentle encouragement she did, and understood that following Duke was the way to go. She flinched when I reached to stroke her head gently but she accepted the caress and visibly relaxed at the gentle touch. She's not scared of her surrounding or other dogs or vehicles, she's just a little timid and, as with all the greyhounds I have met through the rescue, very gentle :yes.gif:

I walked Dezzy for the first time yesterday and she was clearly terrified of me but with gentle persuasion I managed to get her coat off and get her out of the kennel block. Once out she was extremely wary of everything and had her tail right between her legs. We walked her up and down the lane a couple of times and with lots of gentle encouragement she gained in confidence and she slowly started to enjoy the walk. I suspect that she has reason to be very wary of men. She is a lovely gentle soul and I am sure that with sensitive handling she will blossom.

Dezzy is a very shy and timid girl but she’s starting to really come out of her shell.

When we first fostered Dezzy a few weeks back she wouldn’t even come near us, but now she wants to come in for a cuddle and stroke.

This gorgeous girl just needs some confidence boosting, and I’d say outside space/garden too.
She really comes into her own when she’s running around and sniffing outside.

Dezzy walks perfectly on the lead and eats very well - she’s even started to take treats from my hand.

We foster Dezzy with her kennel mate Duke, and she loves trying to play with him when outside.

They’re a gorgeous pair but don’t need to be homed together - that being said, Dezzy’s confidence has grown more because she follows Duke’s lead.

The right family would be very lucky to love Dezzy forever.
