Bear's Story: Bear's family surrendered him as they could no longer accommodate his needs. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Bear will be neutered, is chipped, and fully vaccinated. Bear came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.
If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.
Bear's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original referral information: Family called and asked if we could take Bear in as an emergency

Wowowow! I saw Bear being surrendered and wanted to get to know him straight away. The next day I took him for a walk into the village and he was a delight! I found him incredibly easy to walk, excited by everything but not in a bad way, just happy! Lots of sniffs, not bothered by traffic or cars, birds or other dogs. Loves a cuddle and wants to stretch his paws onto your chest to say hi and ask for a scratch!
He’s gorgeous and he’s very people friendly, as modelled by Sophie in this picture:

Today was the first time I had met Bear through his pen door and I found him absolutely captivating. He did little play bows to persuade me to give him some chicken and when I stopped he barked for my attention. Absolutely lovely. Honestly, I had not been into the kennels for a while but I find the RR dogs just getting more and more lovely!

I couldn’t resist and popped into Bear's kennel to say Hi recently. He’s so adorable and friendly. He loves people and is a big chonky solid bundle of happiness. He took his treats so gently too.
How can anyone resist this house hippo.

I took the marvellous Bear out for a walk yesterday. We walked all the way into town with Bleu and Hugo. He absolutely loved it, sniffed, trotted and generally had the best time ever. He doesn’t appear phased by other dogs, was a happy chap getting lots of pats and no issues with traffic either.
He’s a total dreamboat and will make a wonderful sofa buddy, house hippo addition to any family.
