Zoey's Story: Zoey was found abandoned and unclaimed within a North London council pound. Zoey has been a breeding bitch and has a badly ulcerated eye in need of urgent attention. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving her life. Zoey will be neutered, chipped, and undergo vaccinations. Zoey came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting her new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

I met and walked the beautiful Zoey. What a lovely gentle girl. I went in to her kennel armed with chicken, which she loved. She was very happy to go for a walk, and was very biddable. No pulling, generally slack leads, interested in her surroundings and seemingly non-reactive to other dogs. A pleasure to walk. love4.gif

Zoey met our senior Vet Mark today ... and Mark has prioritised her needs.

First we established she was in season. This hasn't helped her emotional neediness and dear Zoey spent most of the consultation trying to hump me. It was obvious however she is very sweet natured and desperate to please.

Mark felt she originally had damage to the eye which may have developed into ulceration, some time ago. Her eye shows signs of glaucoma and Mark is convinced she neither has vision or pain in that eye. He will make the decision whether to remove it when he is spaying her in the future.

Her ears are in a terrible state and needs a course of steroids before Mark to be able to fully gain access to exam and give her targeted treatment.

Mark made the decision vaccination first, she is on a worming course and will build up weight with 3 good quality meals a day: Currently 31 Kilos.then to start steroids in 1 weeks time, and for him to reassess her after 2 weeks of being on the steriods.

Oh my heart goes out to this sweetheart. Such a lovely greet in her kennel as this is my first walk with Zoey. She had her harness on already and was happy to have the leads on and head off for a stroll around the kennel grounds as she is currently in season. The small paddock was just what she needed, and had a good run around. Yes, as the notes point out, she will hump you but found her easy to push off, while trying not to laugh too much. Zoey is very friendly considering what she must of been through. A lovely dog and will look forward to walking her again soon love4.gif

Zoey and I had a long walk yesterday. She was very happy to see me, out we went & off on an adventure. We went all around Smallfield, at a reasonable pace, and seemed to want to keep going, but I had to direct her back towards the kennels eventually. She is such a sweet girl with a beautiful nature. love4.gif

I took Zoey for a walk with the ‘big dogs’ yesterday and she was great, she was very happy to be part of the group, walking, sniffing and looking for snacks!
She doesn’t pull and doesn’t seem too bothered by the other dogs. She looked to me repeatedly on the walk and I’m not sure if that was for reassurance or just in the hope of another snack but either way she is very sweet and I shall definitely take her out for a walk again. There was no ‘humping’ at all so hopefully that has all passed, bless her.

I walked Zoey for the 2nd time yesterday, she was a dreamboat to walk, no grabbing or humping (this could be something she does when in season). We followed Gourav with Riko and she wasn't phased by him or other dogs, she takes in everything around her but also checks on you regularly. She is definitely my favourite.
