Took the wonderful Billy out today for a walk with Kelly 🤗

Billy is more or less still a puppy, he has only just turned 1 years old back in December so still has some puppy behaviours that need a bit of training but today he was absolutely perfect!

Billy adores going for a walk, he loves to be out of his kennel, in the fresh air walking or running around in the paddock. At first Billy is quite excitable, the knowing he is about to get out & about makes him very very happy! When excited Billy can be strong however I wouldn’t say this is un-manageable at all.

We headed off today through the woods. Billy is very treat focused (aren’t we all 😉) so it’s best to leave the treats until you return back to the rescue. When he does want a treat, he sits in front of you very politely! He walks very well on the lead, very little pulling and just plods along by the side of you. If he does get excited, he responds well to a firm no and then carries on calmly.

Billy has been known to try and bite his leads when out on a walk, this is purely out of excitement and again when told no he more or less stops. Billy is a very young dog and it would seem to me, wasn’t given enough puppy training at the start of his life, so is having to learn a lot of this now in a rescue environment. This takes time but he definitely shows the potential to be absolutely fantastic dog/companion.

When we got back to the rescue, Billy was a little reluctant to go back to his kennel however with the promise of a sausage, he went back with ease. He sat and let us take of his harness and leads. I then told him to “wait” as I left the kennel, which he did, he sat and waited until I told him it was all good to go. He really does listen well bless him! I then gave him some scratches through the kennel door, which he very much enjoyed as his eyes were blinking very slowly! 😂

Overall, a fantastic day out with this wonderful boy. I really hope his family comes and whisks him off his feet soon. Billy needs someone who is familiar with bull breads, someone who is patient and willing to put in time for training etc. This is all this young lad needs, that and lots and lots of love! 🩵

I really do love spending time with Billy - his walks & getting out of his kennel means everything to him and I just love to see him trotting along, enjoying the fresh air.

Billy is a very young dog, so can be excitable at times. This can present with him jumping up at your or sometimes biting on his leads. This only happens at the start of his walk and once he’s out and about he walks extremely well. There is no pulling or lunging, he just plods along nicely.

Billy really enjoys going to the paddock, you cannot get away with avoiding it as he will lead you straight there 😂 He loves to chase a tennis ball or he likes to sit down and chew on one 😬

Today Billy went out for a good 40 minute walk through the woods, we then took him to the paddock where he had time to run and then relax. Billy does listen when he is told and today we practiced telling him to “wait” and then “stay” which he did perfectly. We then threw the ball for him and he ran and picked it up.

Billy is an affectionate dog with a big big heart. He is still more or less a puppy, so needs a little more training but I am certain in a home environment, with a family of his own he would thrive.

Below are a few pictures of Billy with his tennis ball, having a cuddle and sticking his tongue out! 😛

Kobi and I had a lovely walk today with Sooty, Billy, Enya and Milly.

They all walked so well together and enjoyed each other’s company ♥️.

Billy’s afternoon out to the secure field 🩵

Billy had a wonderful day yesterday, he accompanied me and my mum to the discovery secure field for an hour of fun! Billy’s behaviour nothing more than impeccable and it was clear to see he had such a great time.

Billy was running, rolling around on the grass and playing with his new ball. It was so lovely to see this young dog have fun & enjoy himself. He was relaxed, happy, inquisitive and free. He also made sure he made time for cuddles and belly rubs in between the fun! 😀

Billy listens well, when told to “wait” and “sit” he did this perfectly. Me and my mum always compare Billy to a cheeky teenager and there are times he doesn’t always want to follow instruction straight away but when told in a firm voice, he will listen. Billy just needs someone to reiterate these commands, a little bit of training will go a long way with this boy - he really is the best.

To add, Billy travels well in the car. Today he wanted to sit in the back seat and rest his head on my shoulder whilst we made the short drive back to the rescue (he knows he’s a cutie 😉)

Billy was happy to make time for a quick photo shoot whilst at the secure field, he knows he is incredibly photogenic so was happy to sit and pose for the camera 😍

Overall, he was an absolute joy yesterday. He made the most of the hour we all had together & it was so heart warming to see. He enjoyed playing with Natalie at the scent wall, he loved running for his ball, he enjoyed just trotting next to us whilst we walked the perimeter and when all was said and done, he liked to just sit and relax on the cool grass whilst squeaking on his new ball.

Please see below photos of Billy from his afternoon out & please consider him as your new next furry best friend 🩵

Billy boy!

This young chap is coming on leaps and bounds, he still needs a little bit of training but he has the fundamentals down to a T - he can sit, wait, and comes to you when you ask him to. Billy is still a very young dog (basically a teenager) and I don’t think he received enough training at the start of his life. Billy would really benefit from a loving home, a good routine and a patient personal/family who are willing and able to put in some time - you will be rewarded with such a wonderful and loving dog.

Billy is so funny, his personality is great and he really makes me laugh. He is sweet & affectionate, he loves a cuddle and today he was laying on me, looking up with his big tongue sticking out! 😛

Billy absolutely LOVES a toy, whether that’s a tennis ball or a pull/tug toy. We are slowly teaching him to drop the ball/toy when we ask, so we can through it for him again (he doesn’t quite know yet how to bring it back to you 😂) Billy loves running for a ball but equally enjoys chewing on it! 😄

Billy is in desperate need of his forever home. He is more than ready to start a new life and learn new tricks. Billy would ask his future person/family to be patient with him and to stick by him whilst he learns how the world works and In return you will have the most fantastic, cheeky, handsome, funny, playful, loving, cuddly young dog!

My name is Billy 🩵

My birthday is in December & I am currently 17 months old. I used to have a family but they had to give me up, as they weren’t able to deal with my puppy behaviour. I came to Rescue Remedies when I was 10 months old, back in October 2024 and I have been waiting for my new family to come along ever since.

A little bit about me:
- I LOVE toys and balls of all shapes and sizes. My favourite thing to do is to chase them and then lay down and chew on them! I have spent time at Pets at Home before with one of my volunteer walkers Geoff and I hope I’ll be able to choose my own toy from there one day.

- I love going for a walk. My volunteer walker Georgia says I walk very well and I agree! I like to plod along and have a sniff. I also love to go to a secure field where I can run & roll about! 😀 Exercise and being out in the fresh air is important to me, it helps me burn off some of my energy.

- I love my food and treats, so this will help with my future training. I do need clear boundaries around what food is mine and what food isn’t. At a previous foster stay I showed signs of guarding my food a bit, but my fosterer Hayley was patient with me and showed me she wasn’t there to take my food away and so I began to trust and make progress in this area.

- I travel very well in the car 😀 I will sit/lay in the boot or if I am feeling particularly excited, I like to sit in the back seat and look out of the window. I have been in the car with my volunteer walker Georgia a couple of times now and she says I am very well behaved.

- I am good with other dogs and often want to say hello 😀 When I see other dogs on my walk, I like to keep up with them so I am not left behind! I also bow in front of them because I want to play!

- I am very playful and when I am excited or a bit stressed I can bite my leads or jump up. I am not aggressive, I am just young and full of energy. I respond well to a firm “no” but I need a bit more training in this area.

- I am loving & affectionate. I love my walkers and look forward to their visits. I love to cuddle and I like it when I can lay my head in their lap and they scratch my tummy. I respond to my name, I sit when asked and I also wait when I am told.

I am hoping my future person/family is reading this and now know a bit more about me. I need someone patient who is willing to give me time, so I can learn to trust and improve on my skills. I am still very young and have lots more to learn about the world but I know given the opportunity I will do great. I will learn best in a home environment and I hope I don’t have much longer to wait. I need someone who is experienced in my breed, so they can work with me to be the best dog I can be ♥️

If this picture doesn’t sum up our wonderful Billy then I don’t know what will - Billy and his most favourite thing in the word… A BALL! 🥎

Aswell as a ball, Billy is quite the water baby and absolutely loved being in the water tub yesterday! He likes it even more if he can play with his ball in the tub! 😂

This boy is so full of character and is such good fun! He makes the most of every minute he is out of kennel and yesterday he had lots to enjoy! First a walk through the woods, then to the paddock for some running/rolling around, I got him a new ball to play with and then he spent the rest of the time chilling in the tub! 😂

I really do hope his new family is out there and are reading his updates. I just know he is destined for greatness if given the chance 💙
