Billy is more or less still a puppy, he has only just turned 1 years old back in December so still has some puppy behaviours that need a bit of training but today he was absolutely perfect!
Billy adores going for a walk, he loves to be out of his kennel, in the fresh air walking or running around in the paddock. At first Billy is quite excitable, the knowing he is about to get out & about makes him very very happy! When excited Billy can be strong however I wouldn’t say this is un-manageable at all.
We headed off today through the woods. Billy is very treat focused (aren’t we all
Billy has been known to try and bite his leads when out on a walk, this is purely out of excitement and again when told no he more or less stops. Billy is a very young dog and it would seem to me, wasn’t given enough puppy training at the start of his life, so is having to learn a lot of this now in a rescue environment. This takes time but he definitely shows the potential to be absolutely fantastic dog/companion.
When we got back to the rescue, Billy was a little reluctant to go back to his kennel however with the promise of a sausage, he went back with ease. He sat and let us take of his harness and leads. I then told him to “wait” as I left the kennel, which he did, he sat and waited until I told him it was all good to go. He really does listen well bless him! I then gave him some scratches through the kennel door, which he very much enjoyed as his eyes were blinking very slowly!
Overall, a fantastic day out with this wonderful boy. I really hope his family comes and whisks him off his feet soon. Billy needs someone who is familiar with bull breads, someone who is patient and willing to put in time for training etc. This is all this young lad needs, that and lots and lots of love! 🩵
