Back from his lovely foster break Geoff treated Billy to another session in the pool.
Last but not least… just look at his cute little face!!

Billy had a lovely time at the pool today. A second visit really worked for him, and he knew what to expect. He was very brave, and quickly got the hand of swimming, and thoroughly enjoyed it. So proud of him xxxx

Billy gave me the biggest hello in his kennels. Kisses, cuddles, the whole lot! I do think the extent of Billy’s true character and amazingness won’t come out until he’s in his forever home. We have seen glimmers of it during his foster stays and I think that’s just scratching the surface.
Even though I’ve been walking Billy for a while now, every so often he becomes unsure mid walk and wants to go back to the kennels. I try ans distract him with a new exciting direction which works for a while but he remembers again and wants to go back. This is very different to the other Billy who usually refuses to go back and has to be bribed. I can’t wait until he find his family and he never has to worry about where he is going ever again.

I think I have figured out that Billy walks best if he starts his walk in the paddock, playing games then going for a walk in the woods. The past few times he has gotten worried and not wanted leave the grounds / join group walks. We used to have great walks and I realised the difference was that I always used to bring him to play in paddock first. It could be that this time in paddock gives Billy a chance to trust you before leaving the grounds.
Not realising this at the time, and after another unsuccessful walk where he didn’t want to leave the grounds, I decided to take him to paddock. He didn’t seem worried at all and was super happy playing “fetch” and running around. This felt like a small victory so after a while, I asked if he wanted to go for a walk and to my delight he did!! So off on a proper walk we went! There is no better feeling, as you know just how much these walks mean to these dogs but due to stress they don’t feel like they can go.

First solo walk with Billy and what a delight. Over joyed with happiness and excitement to have someone come take him out. Once out happy to amble and sniff every flower and blade of grass, and forever looking up and back with sad eyes, asking if what he was doing was ok. Loved head and body rubs that said yes , he was good.
Well behaved on waiting to cross any road; be it busy main roads or quiet side roads. Always sat or waited when asked, to let other dogs or horses pass in the wooded bridleways.
Only got boisterous when going back to kennel, telling his neighbours what a great long walk he’d been on.

A picture of Billy having a cuddle with my dad on his day out! Such a lovely dog with so much potential! Just needs someone patient to teach him how the world works as he is still only a puppy! He really is a fantastic young dog 🩵

I had the pleasure of the lovely Billy on the charity walk today. He is an absolute delight
He wasn’t keen on the hanging around at the beginning but once we got walking he was the perfect dog. He took no notice of the other dogs and walked really well without pulling. He loves his treats and likes being told he’s a good boy
Someone will end up with a lovely dog !!
( I can’t believe I didn’t take one photo today)!

Beautiful Billy Boy
I had my first walk with Billy and was very taken with him. Not only is he very handsome but he is a clever, fun-loving, cuddly boy.
Billy still has a good deal of puppy energy and did have a couple of mischievous moments with me on our walk, wanting to play tug with the leads and jump about. I stood very calmly and when Billy realised he wasn't going to go anywhere unless he let go, he calmed down and we continued merrily on our way.
Billy is very receptive to training. He would wait when I told him to and would stay there until I told him to go on. After a few treats he would walk right by my side, come to me when I cued him to and sit when asked.
When we returned to the kennels we sat on the bench and had cuddles and kisses.
Billy was a bit reluctant to return to his kennel but after a little persuasion, we returned and said our goodbyes.

It was a pleasure walking Billy yesterday. He was pleased to see me, but was quite easy to harness. On exiting he reacts to the dogs around him, as they react to him. Once clear of the kennels we settled into a lovely long walk. He did grab the leads once, but a firm ‘sit’, and pause, sorted that out.
Billy didn’t react to any of the dogs that passed, but being focused on a treat did help. He really enjoyed being out in the sunshine.

Yesterday we started in the paddock, playing tennis balls. Billy loves tennis balls, he will keep the first one in his mouth, then chase the others, sometimes trying to get 2 or 3 in his mouth at the same time. It is no problem taking the balls from around him, and he keeps running until he needs a break. He only wanted a short walk after the paddock, but was very happy.
